Yea, there is children in FO1, but they're not necessary like in some FO2 quests. There is a patch called "falloutgorepatch" that will bring back children in both FO1 & FO2, but it seems to have been taken offline. I guess I could mail you the patch, but it's 30 MB big, if I remembers...
