Assassinations

Post by Corpse »

There is a bug in the game which allows you to kill anyone with explosives and does not turn everyone around you hostile (or give you negative karma, or childkiller karmic trait). If you place the explosives next to your victim (even while sneaking) there is a good chance you will be spotted turning your victim (and everyone nearby) hostile; however if you activate the explosives in your inventory (not your active object slot) and place them in any container (desk, locker) near your victim, the game won't register this as a hostile act. Better still if you have the bag you find in the Molerat lair in Modoc, place the active explosives in it and drop the bag next to your victim; works everytime.

Personally for some reason every time I try to plant explosives it crashes my game when I leave a map so that won't work for me. But dropping it beside someone works just fine if they don't notice it... So the bag trick is clever since I can get around that problem. But I use the super-stim way to kill people anyhow.

my game crashes whenever i try to blow someone up.

the only problem with super stims is that not everyone sells a ton of them at once, so you have to go to a lot of places to get enough to assassinate someone.

Nuka, stimpack, and one of those weird mutated fruit thingies.

The hypo's for normal stims... And there's plenty of stims around anyway...

There are tons of nuka-colas so you needn't worry about those, and fruits even though much less common aren't exactly a rare oddity.

I never use superstim to kill anyone except the President coz it's too valuable.

Would be fun though, to see that self righteous bigot bee blown too bits all while you are having a friendly conversation with the guy.

You can get unlimited super stims. You only need nuka cola, fruit and a stimpak to have Myron make a super stim, and those are all replenishing items in various vendors' stocks.

I prefer explosives though. It's just more amusing.

could you take the explosives, put them in the bag, and then plant them on your victem? i dont usually blow things up, but does the explosive make them explode if it is on the ground close to them? or does it have to be on them?

You can do both. The advantages of not planting it are two: No steal skill, and in my case, no game crash :P.

Well, thieving in FO-games is pretty random. All you need is a Steal skill of 14% and you're ready to go! No need to spend those expensive skill points on something as useless as that...

Ah, but it can be an excellent skill in NCR....
Do you know what i´m talking about?

Um.. no.... Because my point was that it doesn't really matter shit if you have 14% Steal compared to 300% Steal. You just have to save & load a few times and you'll succeed.

I know the bozars, dude.

That's exactly what I do every time. Spending points on this is a waste, you can steal anything with a bit of patience anyway. Sometimes it gets frustrating as hell though.

It's not a waste. You get plenty of points anyway. Saving and Loading all the time criples the system and makes for some annoying gameplay.

With low skill like Doctor for example, you CAN'T do certain quests. With low Steal you can do everything, it doesn't really affect ANYTHING. Still, do what you want, I'm not giving you any advice. I bet you like spending points on Throwing and First Aid too and you have the right to do so.
