Neverending children question

Post by Blaine »

Hi !

I know that it has been asked a thousand times, but:

My european version of Fallout 1 is missing children.

Now I searched this forums already for an answer, but so far no topic could privide me with an answer to how to fix it (all links refering to a gore patch or something like it were brioken).

I found a unofficial patch 1.04 for Fallout 2 so I guessed there might be something similar for the first part.

I would appreciate every help. Thanks in advande.

get the official european children patch. not 1.04, thats a fan based patch intended to fix broken quests/buggy stuff (dont install it, wait for 1.05, 1.04 has a ton of glitches)

so its probubly here at dac (children patch) or at interplay website.

wait a sec, you are talking about FO1 right? i thought that there was no children issue with fallout1, just 2...

Thanks for the reply !

I'm pretty sure there must be children in Fallout 1. A walkthrough mentions one in the hub, inside the hospital of the children of the cathedral (a flower girl). It is missing in my game. Other people told me there are children in Shady Sands.

Nothing critical, but for once I'd like to get the FULL Fallout 1 experience.

Yea, there is children in FO1, but they're not necessary like in some FO2 quests. There is a patch called "falloutgorepatch" that will bring back children in both FO1 & FO2, but it seems to have been taken offline.

I guess I could mail you the patch, but it's 30 MB big, if I remembers correctly.

Great news !

I can't receive e-mails of that size, so I either have to find someone who has an unlimited e-mail account or get some free webspace. I'll stay in touch.

Blaine, Kizmiaz, you could just meet up on MSN, IRC or any chat service and do a file transfer via those programs.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

No file size limit, and yeah, them firewalls are annoying as crap. The message services have got to find a better way to send files... I mean really, it's gotta be possible. Who can send files nowadays? Everyone who's anyone has a firewall.

And as for kids... yeah you need kids. You haven't truly killed everything in the game until you kill the kids too ;) Yeah. I know I'm cool.

I'll just smash them in the eyes with the same power sledge that got all the kids too ;)
If that thing goes through PA with no problem, I don't think that bounty hunters are gonna do much good... bwahahahahahahahahahahaha. Ehrm. Yeah. Well, Um. Um. I'll leave it at that.

Problems arise. I'm at work, behind firewalls, and the boss pretty annoyed already so its not a good idea installing ICQ and such ilk, but I know e-mail attachment work, they had before altough I never sent such a big chunk before.
I guess I could get an internet connection at home, but that would require a phone line right?
Besides, it's rather un-interesting since broadband is out of the question 'cause I live in the country.
And I lied 'bout the size of the file. It's not 30 MB. It's 36 MB.

I could split it into smaller parts.

Update: I managed to access Google today and got 2 interesting hits:
http://www.vault13.de/ (this one mentions a "bloodpatch")
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA028173/ (my japanese are a little rusty)

Hey guys !

I appreciate your interest in my problem.

I'll give the link to the german site a try. The download is about 35 megs so I guess I'll have to ask a friend with a broadband connection for a favor (I'm using a 56k dial-in connection :(

I'll post a status report tomorrow if it worked.

Thanks again.

KillaKilla's logic:
FOT and FO: BOS weren't FO at all!........... 1. I am nobody
DOGMEAT is God. Never dispute this!........ 2. Nobody is perfect
Up and coming hardware nerd.................. 3. Hence I am perfect

It worked !!! A miracle !

The Vault 13 Update restores Gore and children to BOTH Fallout games. Great thing.

By the way, my Fallout 2 CD broke after the second use because it was stuck very tight in it's official CD case. It made *crack* and I had half of my Fallout game in the hand.

Good thing I am paranoid and made a backup disc. Still keep the remains of the original just in case someone knocks at my door.
