Pistol Fanatic

Post by Bloodgeon11 »

Any gun enthustiasts out there give me a hand?

For a personal project, i need to find a kick-ass pistol, but i have to be very specific in terms of listing the model. Just post up your opinions...what's your favorite pistol? Add pic if possible. Keep in mind weight, clip size, accuracy, stopping power, and just plain style. Thanks!

I'm the proud owner of a Ruger P-90, its probably my favorite handgun.
Its a .45 ACP and as such has great stopping power. Has a clip size of 7, 8 round capacity if you have one in the chamber. Weighs about 2.1 lbs. Its a very accurate gun and is used by quite afew police forces. Its also one of the few pistols that is accurate enough that it can be used just for shooting around or for competitions. Mines allitle differant from the norm in that I have a stainless steel slide. I plan on eventually getting a stainless steel frame and some custom wood grips. Rugers are also really cheap and reliable so if you're going to use one for some sort of modification project this would be a good choice. Its about $500 for one. You can also choose between a manual safety or a decocker.

Go with a solid variation of a classic: A Springfield Armory mil-spec 1911.

It's about 36 ounces; more accurate out out of the box than you probably are; and magazines come in 7, 8 or even 10 rounds. It's also designed to be safely carried cocked and locked, so like the ruger you can have one in the pipe.

No, no! You have it all wrong! I would never dream of committing such a horrid offense as murder! The very thought makes my bowels quake in disgust!

i would say the 1911 but since it was already said i will make another suggestion, the Springfield XD9 is a solid polymer framed pistol that is light, accurate and reliable. it features an ambidextrous magazine release and standard drop-free magazines. it has a 10 round magazine but can use 18 round magazines from it's sister pistol the XD40. it weighs 27 ounces and features an excellent glock-style trigger with no manual safety.

it also features and integral light rail so any number of lighting systems can be mounted.

p.s. most pistols and rifles take magazines, clip/magazine is not interchangeable.

Yeah get the XD if you're a pussy, be a man and get the Mil-Spec M1911A1 from Springfield Armory, most customizable 1911 on the market really, I bought two and turned one in to a classic WW2 1944 Date M1911A1, then turned the other in to a modern "combat" M1911A1 with Beavertail, Novak Sights, and other goodies.

Also, wanna be taken seriously? Don't call a fucking magazine a clip, retard.
Just post up your opinions...what's your favorite pistol?
M1911 varients, no other pistol has earned the right to legally be on my person since I turned 21.

I guess nobody likes revolvers anymore :sadblinky:
May I recommend the Smith & Wesson 686? It is a .357 revolver, comes in several barrel lengths, and a seven-shot version is available. It will accept .38 also, which reduces the cost of target shooting.

2 of the 3 handguns posted look like toys you can buy at the dollar store. if i was going to own a gun id want it made of real metal, not some half assed polymer resin bullshit.

hammers got the right idea. those M1911 varients are usually pretty good shots and they look badassed.

if i didnt say the M1911A1 hardballer longslide wasnt a damn nice gun what kind of hitman fan would i be?

Thanks for all the help.

Also, sorry for using clip improperly. I just got bitched out by an old ex-mil dude for that.

This is pretty helpful so far, my project is coming right along (Kreegle, watch your @$$).

Nothing wrong with revolvers, in fact, they're my first love. I simply need something with more rounds.

No, it means that you are alive. Combat is very hectic. You cannot afford nor have the time to take well-aimed shots in most situations, especially in engagements where the enemy is less than 100-150 yards away (think: ambush).

When it comes to pistols, if you are using one, chances are that the enemy is close enough to spit on. In such cases either a trusty M1911A1 or a bayonet and/or combat knife is useful. A rifle would work too, as a club.

You managed to do the latter perfectly, as always Kash.

Also, here is a pair of the finest combat pistols ever invented, bar none:

The M1911 alongside its successor, the M1911A1.

Notice the lanyard loop on the magazine of the M1911?
