You know, a .22LR rifle in "assault" configuration (hi-cap clips/drums, barrel shroud, pistol grip) would be sweet. Mostly because it'd be cheaper than "real" assault rifles like AK or AR, and the ammo is only 2 cent per round.

That'd be an awesome toy.

Also much more likely to get banned.

Really, I think taking a UBER-OMG-HI-TEK plastic stock and slapping it on a 10/22 is a bit silly. It's like someone who buys a Ford Focus or something and then spends nearly as much trying to make it look like a sportscar.

Drums would be fun though :)

Yeah, the after-market accessories get expensive... I should've bought that Chinese AK in .22LR I saw at the gun show.

Not really, the 10/22 is one of the most upgradeable guns out there. I don't think it's silly at all to make it look like some sort of super evil rifle, just like it's not silly to upgrade them until there are no original parts in the gun so that it becomes a super-accurate competition .22. That's what's so great about the 10/22, your options are almost limitless.

I like to keep mine mostly stock, except for the flash suppressor and extended magazine release. I had a scope on there but I have to send it back to Bushnell.

Although the idea of using a 10/22 as a combat rifle is silly, considering .22Long Rifle isn't exactly a powerhouse. Don't get me wrong here, more people are killed with .22LR every year than with just about any other caliber, it's just that it's not quite as likely to take a person down and finding reliable high capacity magazines is a chore. Somehow Ruger has made it so that only their magazines will reliably work in their guns and since they're assholes sometimes they refuse to sell anything over 10 rounds to the civilian market. They make 20 and 30 rounders for their Mini-14 rifles, but only ship out 5 round magazines with it and nobody has yet to make a reliable aftermarket high-capacity magazine for the rifle.

Of course for fun I don't think a .22 can be beat, simply because of how cheap ammo is. For the cost of 1,000 rounds of M43 you can get over 6,000 rounds of .22.

But in a SHTF scenario I think I'd take the .22 rifle over a pistol any day.

Speaking of adding things to guns, today a package arrived with some new to me Pachmayr rubber grips for the Hi-Power. I won them from a guy on another forum. Along with the grips he sent two OSI patches, which wasn't expected.

Feels pretty good, easier for me to grip it, a lot of people complain otherwise, but Hi-Power grips are actually kind of small for my hands. Usually people complain they're too big.

Tried 10/22 the other day. Featherweight-light. I was so disappointed... Well, I'm going to buy another gun tomorrow, .22LR pistol probably, or maybe Savage 64 semi-auto - it's only like $120, twice cheaper than 10/22.

Don't know about where you are but around here one can find a 10/22 for $150, plus later on you can customize it just about any way you want. You never see people talking about their totally sweet Savage 64, do you? Nope, it's always the bitchrod 10/22. So you do your shopping and weigh it out.

Besides, if you're disappointed by the 10/22's weight you'll be disappointed by the 64 as well. They both weigh about five pounds.

Yes, but it's cheaper...

Anyway, I'm going to Bristol tomorrow, prices tend to drop down the further you are from Philadelphia... Maybe I'll even drop by a Walmart, they sell it too (no guns in Philly metro area, though).

But not by much. Why buy something you're not as sure of when for $30 you can buy something that we all know works very well. It's $30, so go out and suck three more cocks, boom, there you go.

And don't get me started on Philadelphia and it's asshole politicians/anti-gun slant. I've got a friend over there who's in the process of putting the screws to "Philly's Finest" for arresting him.

A bum pulled a knife on him as he walked out of 7-11, so he pulled his gun and the bum ran off. My friend continued walking home and a few blocks down the road the police pull up and hassle him and arrest him for brandishing a firearm. They take him down to jail and a detective comes in and asks to see his carry permit, he produces it and the detective walked off with the permit. Then later on the police report it says he was picked up without said permit.

The cops tried talking down to him because obviously only moron redneck slobs carry guns, turns out, oops, he's a lawyer, not exactly a moron.

Then they went to his house and confiscated all of his guns, knives and even his fucking flashlights. Tore his place up and everything. Then on his first court date the bum of course doesn't show up and neither does the cop.

Second court date the cop and bum don't show up again.

This last court date "the City isn't ready with it's case."

They're just dicking him around because they know they haven't got a case and they want to make an example of him. Problem is you can't make an example of someone when you haven't got a case. So fuck Philly, fuck the Philadelphia Police, and fuck Mayor Street.

Actually I heard about this one, on geekwitha45's blog. Can you ask him what police district did it happen at?

Look, some of these guys put $500 price tag on AB-10 and V-10's just because they're "assault" and "not made anymore". I saw AB-10 for $230 at the gun show last week, and dealer-recommended price for V-10-45 is $330... They're just counting on rich gangsta-wannabies to buy it, and imagine that, some kid with his daughter comes in and after much fondling and molesting buys AB-10, then says he already has V-10-45. I mean, that's your money, but you're getting ripped off here, dude. That's why their shitty WASR single-stack converts sell for $450 instead of $350.

Then again, inner-city gunstores are a great place to put your handguns up for consignment, if you don't care about some poor swell guy getting killed with your gun later. There's ALWAYS someone buying them.
