The Firearms Thread
Tried out the gun. Doesn't seem to be needing any further break-in. Being over-built, it ejects casings from standard pressure ammo a bit weakly (compared to other 9mm pistols I shot), and directly to the right. Recoil is the most gentle one compared to ANY pistol I shot, barring Walther P22.
I'll order couple of 15 round magazines, and a holster.
I'm thinking of getting some Class 3 stuff, will call a couple of lawyers who know how to get this stuff done.

You better have some serious cash to get into C3 type stuff, like $10,000-15,000 for even the cheapest of transferable machine guns.
If you're talking about sielncers and short barreld rifles it's not so expensive since htye're still made foir the civilian market, unlike machine guns.
Also depends on what state you're in.

Just got my mail-ordered MAC-10 from a dealer in Bristol (these guys are great, it's a shame I don't live close to that area). The gun is ~12 lbs, but unlike the old M11, it has a LOT less kick. I'd say between .40S&W and .45ACP for delayed blowback. I'm planning on getting a stock and a pistol grip for it.
Also, I've had a chance to try out Smith and Wesson's new M&P .40 pistol, and Springfield Armory's XD-40. Both are very good guns. M&P has a slimmer profile and 15 rounds per magazine, but there was a report of pins "walking out" of the frame during continuous operation. Some blast the trigger, but I think it's just the right balance between Glock style single action and double action for a self-defense pistol. Recoil appears to be somewhat gentler than from XD-40, but that might be subjective.
XD-40 appears to be thicker, has only 10 rounds per magazine, but much more robust than even Glock itself. The trigger takes getting used to, and I'm still not there. It keeps slapping me cause I pull it too high.

Putting a stock on it without first classifying it as a short barreled rifle is a felony, same deal with putting a forward pistol grip on it I think. Gets a little gray there, but a shoulder stock is a no-no fo' sho'.ApTyp wrote:Just got my mail-ordered MAC-10 from a dealer in Bristol (these guys are great, it's a shame I don't live close to that area). Sigh.
Not if you extend the barrel to the legal 10" length. You think you're dealing with an idiot here?
P.S.
In an incredible coincidence, I saw a guy firing American 180 at the indoor range yesterday. When wearing ear muffs, it sounded a bit like generic first person shooter machinegun, albeit a fast one, which was disappointing cause I expected a roar or just a long buzz. Another asshole was firing a full-auto M14, whose sound had an extremely unpleasant effect of resonating in my guts (or maybe it was just involuntary reflex).

Questions Questions
I was told by some friends of mine that getting a class III license isn't all that difficult. Something about some inquisitive BATF bullshit, and a whopping five hundred dollars annual renewal, though if I had the $$ for an automatic weapon a piddling 500 bucks would, well, be piddling.
Is that really the case? And if I were thinking about getting an FFL, would an FFL make acquiring a machine gun license any easier?
Cheapest automatic weapon? I saw an old uzi, beat to shit, for four big ones. I see one online right now for three. Anything less?
Also, if you have this license, can you convert a semi you already own, provided of course you pay and fill out the appropriate 27.Z/6

Well I tried that, but "machine gun" can be interpreted in a manner of ways. What I ended up getting was a rapid-fire handjob from a transgendered black whore. And AIDS.
The chafing was awful.

Hi-Point 9mils are like 80 dollars in Buffalo
And I don't fucking mean from Gander Mountain

I've got dies for .303British but I haven't got the press and all that, my grandfather does. If I want to reload .303 all I gotta do is ask him. That's cheaper than buying new ammo because .303 isn't all that popular and surplus ammo isn't as plentiful as 7.62x54R. So as long as this stuff stays this cheap it's simply not worth it for me to reload, especially since I don't plan on shooting this gun all the time. Working the bolt is a fucking bitch. Cycling through a full magazine and it's nap time.
Why not buy a Mosin-Nagant? At these prices you might as well pick one up. They're cool guns with a lot of history behind them. Also, I'd like to have a collection of combat rifles from each of the major combatants in World War 2. I've got this one any my Lee-Enfield, next I might pick up a Mauser, although I'd like another handgun first.
