Krebs? Is he the idiot who put the Weaver rails on dust cover?

Fuck Krebs. Go with Vepr. Weighs as much as milled AK47, but as nice as a Glock slide.

KREBS uses VEPRs, right? Nah, fuck him. The additons aren't worth the extra $$. And it's definitely better to use the side mount for an AK anyways, like it was designed for.
No, VEPRs are great and also I swear by my Romanian SAR. It was like 300 dollars, I pimped it all out with black furniture, and it has never ever given me a problem.
RobArms claims the VEPR uses the SAW AK as its base, but I can't verify that save the style of the furniture. Barrel looks sturdier, I guess. Anyways, good guns.
These little doohickies aren't a complete waste of money, either:

Just came back from the range. Guns were Ruger P95 and Glock 23. Glock gave me a sore index finger (what kind of a moron came up with trigger safety anyway?! I get swollen index finger every time I shoot a gun with one!), and 3" groups at 7 yards. Ruger gave me zero recoil, and 2" groups at 10 yards, offhand, which is way better than any other 9mm's I have shot and/or owned.

I am somewhat anxious to check out Ruger P90 D:
It handles better than P97, which just seems all wrong compared to 95. Grip too small, balance is wrong... Hmm, I need money $_$

GLOCK triggers are pretty heavy, about five pounds.

I remember that, long ago, me padre had a "toy rifle"...

the "magazine" was about the size of a book of matches.

5 rounds of .22 LR.

Head/heart shot only in terms of stopping power.

But it was pretty accurate.

Toy guns are fun.

I'm kidding.
While I do have a hardballer, it's plastic and shoots plastic as well :sigh:

This isn't exactly a gun-friendly country =/

So I'm forced to live with toy guns.

Well, Denmark has a special place in my heart, Smiley. Holland, too. Now the tallest place on earth, my brother tells me. So I hear tiny Denmark has the second or third largest military in Europe, now. That's awesome.

Anyways, I'm looking for an automatic, preferably in .45 I was fondling a Kimber Ultra Carry at Gander, and I liked. My hand fit around the grip fully, which is a problem as I have really big hands. So, grips are a go.

Now, does anyone own one, shoot or shot it at all? Experiences? Any good? Is my fear of an under-sized .45 being unruly or inaccurate unfounded? Thoughts?

Any kick can be overcome, but with a lightweight .45, you'll probably have to spend quite a bit of rounds to get used to it. I'm more worried about the effectiveness of an already large subsonic caliber being fired from a 3" barrel.

That being said, I only shot Dan Wesson and Springfield fullsize 1911's, and even they had quite a kick to them. Since felt recoil is a subjective thing, my advice for you is to drive around the gun ranges to see if they rent Kimber Ultra Carry, or you can bum a few shots from a guy who has one D;

My makarov has a severe power issue, and I don't need more guns with less predictability. One time, in my back yard, I shot shitty Wolf ammo into an old 5 gal. bucket full of water, and it stopped the slug. I put a hole in the front, and the bullet drifted to the bottom of the bucket, I shit you not. I still have the round. Whether it was a squib or what, I'm never relying on that gun for anything, ever. Maybe if I got a replacement barrel, convert it to .380. But not as 9x18, no way. That round blows beyond measure.

Yeah, I've been waiting, actually. I got to shoot a 357SIG at the range that way, just by being there when a G-Man came in and we got to talking.

I shot the para-ordinance .45, and a gov't issue 1911, and they were nice. I don't know, I'm sticking with revolvers until I get a good reason to switch, or if I get to shoot a kimber and love it. 5'9" and 220, so I can hide most guns on me easily enough. Been carrying my trusty S&W revolver for awhile now, and I'm not thinking that I need any more. I keep hearing argments in favor of automatics for civilian carry, and personally I'm not sold on it. Realy, if I can't do the job in six, well...

Automatics are slimmer than revolvers, don't have the annoying cylinder gap (which means more efficient use of the gunpowder), and the surplus ammo is (still) fairly cheap, even with the skyrocketing copper prices. Personally, the slim profile and better ergonomics are the biggest plus for me.

I dropped Makarov and the like as my carry quite some time ago. Personally I stick to the .40S&W, which is smack in the middle of 9mm and the grand old .45ACP. I'm about as big as the original 50 Cent, but since I'm not a crazed maniac from the projects, I prefer comfort over superior firepower. You, on the other hand, sound just primed for the big guns.

The way I hear it Kimbers are over-hyped and overpriced. You drop a pretty penny on one and you have to send it off to have work done on it to make it usable. Kimbers seem to be hit or miss in terms of quality control and thus many Kimber owners either love theirs to death or they think it's a piece of shit in the shape of a pistol.

Then you have your Commander sized 1911 type pistols, and those I'm told are even more finicky. If you don't hold them just right they might jam up on you when you need it most, plus you only get 6+1 shots, might as well just get a revolver if you're going to do that.

Wolf ammo is known to be underloaded, it's not exactly the premier self defense ammo, you know? It's plinking and practice ammo. Furthermore if you based your self defense choices on weapons that function one-hundred percent of the time you'll soon be left with nothing. Everything is prone to failure. Nothing can be one-hundred percent, this is the nature of things.

Don't discount the Makarov and don't try switching it to .380 because 9x18 is more powerful than .380. Some of it's hotter loadings bring it quite close to 9mm I'm told. The trouble is finding suitable defensive ammunition, since there are very few makers of it. It might be beneficial to reload for it. In any case though the Makarov is not supposed to be a powerhouse for blowing bad guys back thirty feet and turning their insides to strawberry jelly. As a highly concealable, moderately powerful autopistol with a low price tag it excels. Good warm weather carry gun as it's something one could easily slip into a pocket and nobody would know the difference. Try doing that with your .45, people are going to start wondering why your pants hang the way they do.

So you don't carry any spare ammunition when you carry a revolver? Just those six shots? That's rather foolish if you ask me. You don't lose any points if you have ammo left over after a gunfight, but you just might if you run out before the fight's through.
