The Firearms Thread
That's only half true, the company that makes the galil is still producing the old version, for selling abroad, for example, latin america is one of their best costumers, including other IDF acessories like helmets. They also produced the Tavor, which is their top infantry weapon, but they`re only using it with their commandos.
To the regular forces they are using m16, because USA is giving them their excedent.

I'm guessin' the Galil that ASG mentioned might be what you're thinking of, but let me reiterate: I'm not saying the Beretta comes with a bottle-opener, I'm saying that we use them as such. It's also very bad for the pistol.Redeye wrote:Isn't there some Israeli gun that comes with a bottle opener?

If I was in charge I'd make it so the helmet rims and belt buckles and toothbrushes, etc. all had a bottle-opener application.OnTheBounce wrote:I'm guessin' the Galil that ASG mentioned might be what you're thinking of, but let me reiterate: I'm not saying the Beretta comes with a bottle-opener, I'm saying that we use them as such. Why? Soldiers' ingenuity will amaze you. I've learned so many ways to open bottle in the Army it isn't funny.Redeye wrote:If I was in charge I'd make it so the helmet rims and belt buckles and toothbrushes, etc. all had a bottle-opener application.
Of course, the introduction of multi-tool like the Gerber and Leatherman have largely rendered that sort of thing obsolete, but that's just another reason it would be pointless to give me a combination belt buckle/bottle opener. (About the only place you will find me w/o my Gerber is in an airport.)
Nobody fights for the flag. Some people may tell you they do, but those are invariably the ones that can tell you the ins-and-outs of the Army's financial system, so I'd say that goes a long way toward betraying their true motivations.Redeye wrote:Screw the flag.

Alcohol and vulvas are topics of more interest to soldiers than some ethereal ideology or governmental model. Or, to quote Animal Mother, "If I'm gonna die for a word, my word is poon-tang."

East Bloc shit all the way. SKS and AK. Cheap, simple, and extremely rugged. Yugo SKS's are like 100 dollars, and Rumanian AK's are like 300. Plentiful ammo and parts, and 7.62X39 can knock down anything.
Tins if 7.62 in the Sportsmans Guide for cheap, already sealed up in one of those metal tins. Spray the fucker with clear coat, bury it if you want, or just stash it in the darkest corner of your basement.
The most recent Soviet rifle 'imports' don't suffer from the traditionally low quality seen in like the Norincos and the Egyptian AKs. The only thing that may be lacking on the guns would be their furniture, but replacing that is easy enough.
When the earliest, most turbulent stages of feudalism reemerge, I'll be well-prepared to offer protection in exchange for your land deeds, precious metals, etc. I think taking to the road would be a bad idea, but I'm open to suggestions.

Those rifles do not have receivers (the gun) either. Since they are machine guns and machine guns are still illegal the receivers are all cut up into pieces so that you cannot use them anymore. So you need a new receiver as well.
Also the BATFE has stopped the importation of barrels with those kits. It's not a law, they BATFE just isn't letting them in. They like to make up rules as they go along sometimes, earns them brownie points with their superiors. So you'll need to find a new barrel for it too.
Now on top of all that you have to assemble the rifle. It's not like an AR which one could easily assemble with a hammer and punch and a few basic tools right quick like, no, AK's are held together using rivets. Sure you could use nuts and bolts, and some people do, but it's not the best option. After lots of shooting, even with Loc-Tight or what have you the nuts and bolts can come loose, one minute you're blasting zombies and communists and radioactive midget clowns and the next you've got the bolt lodged in your forehead.
Furthermore, even the "lowest quality" AK's are balls awesome. Drag it through the mud, beat your priest with it, use it as a sexual aid, whatever, and it'll still go bang. Ak's, SKS's and Mosin-Nagants are truly people's rifles. Just about any retarded ape can operate one, they require a minimum amount of maintenance, ammo is pretty common and cheap as are magazine (for the AK, do NOT modify your SKS to use anything but the standard 10 shot fixed mag, some guns will take to it just fine, others will jam on every shot and you'll punch yourself in the balls when you realize that for the cost of that conversion you could have gotten 120 rounds).
So my opinion is the AK, the SKS or the Mosin-Nagant, those will do you pretty good after the bombs fall and Mad Max rules the earth and all that chit, mang
George Bush lowered taxes so the Jews could kill Michael Moore.

I'm not talking about any silly kits my friend. I'm talking about semi-only GUNS, fully functional, off the shelf from your local gun store. KITS are as cheap as 100 dollars, but I don;t even think they'd be good for parts. Anyways, notice how I put quotes around 'imports,' you know, how fully assembled AKs have US receivers, because of HW Bush's Exec Order or whatever.
Perhaps it's my fault for not being crystal. I say, for at most 300 bucks, right now, somebody looking for a sturdy rifle can go buy himself an AK, a mosin-nagant, hell even a mauser. And I don't think there'd be any disagreement there. And unless your BARREL is CANTED like some of those fully assembled, off-the-shelf, semi-automatic only Norinco's that were coming in some years back, you can pretty much be Dead Eye Dick with any of the above listed guns. And that's all that counts when my neighbors want me to extort them-- err, look after their well-being.

Was thinking of ordering a 9 inch bull barrel in 45-70 gov't with a muzzle tamer from the fox ridge custom shop for my G2 Contender. I figured that combined with some ammunition from Garrett Cardridges would make for a mean little mountain gun. Thoughts?
my vocabulary skills is above you.
