Weapons for FO, wadda ya want?
Weapons for FO, wadda ya want?
These are some of the weapons I'd like to use in Fallout:
Double barreled shotgun-
We need one with a hair trigger, to blast badguys with both barrels this time
H&K G36/ G11-
If they can get the license I'd like to see both of these implemented, correctly this time.
Colt M4 -
Again, if they can get the license. Hopefully w/ the M203 as well.
Objective Individual Combat Weapon-
This weapons secondary fire could be supplemented by 20mm cannon rounds found at any ol' post apocalyptic run down airbase. Also, the two seperate parts could be found and pieced together through a quest or something. Interesting story dynamic(?).
Scorpion SMG- Another sweet weapon for the lower strength PCs.
Flechlette gun- This one could be like a fully auto gauss rifle with firing rates equivalent to the triple shot burst of the G11... if they were to do it as per reality.
Add all the existing weapons from FO1 and 2 of course. Or don't, I dunno what people want. Go apeshit guys!

depends on when they set it now wouldn't it? If it's a prequel I'd expect more of the low tech conventional weapons. rifles, pistols, a few prototype electrical weapons and throw in some real low tech weaponry (not the spear!) machetes & bows.
the guns already included in fo1/2 (less 2) are fine.
No Gauss Mini gun plz.
less counter strike
more buck rogers.
would be nice to see them move away from the fallout 2 weapon/item overload. maybe limit it a bit and instead focus on weapon mods/improvements/jerry rigs... armor customizations/piece meal armor. etc.

I could not have put it better myself. Scavenging for whatever could be used as a weapon in the post-apoc world really adds to the grittiness of the game. Having lockers filled with laser guns, flamethrowers, and mini-guns really took away from that. Maybe still have them, just not EVERYWHERE.Killzig wrote:less counter strike

There still should be some basis in our world. Fallout felt like our world gone wrong and that's one of the reasons why I liked it.fallout is not our world.
Since it takes place in the US (I'm assuming), there should be plenty of hunting rifles (bolt action Remingtons etc), handguns, and "simpler" assault rifles (AR-15s etc) around. The more exotic items should be rarer and much harder to come by, same for the ammo.
edit:
Yes please.maybe limit it a bit and instead focus on weapon mods/improvements/jerry rigs

Re: Weapons for FO, wadda ya want?
All those weapons would fit perfectly in a sequel to fallout tactics, but not f3.The game needs weapons appropriate to it's atmosphere like the ones that existed in fallout 1.Icabod wrote:These are some of the weapons I'd like to use in Fallout:

Ok let's just keep the old weapons and not have anything new, sounds good to me
But before you guys extent those claws, here it is. They made a prototype in the eighties that was fully automatic and had an extraordinary high rpm. The problem was it shot laterally towards friendlies on the lines.

you fucking nunce, we're saying don't go fucking Rainbow six ape shit on Fallout 3 with MP5 Navy's. If you're going to add weapons make the appropriate to the world set by Fallout 1. BUCK DODGERS, WW2 ESQUE.Icabod wrote:Ok let's just keep the old weapons and not have anything new, sounds good to me

Fallout 2
that gun suggestion was probably that homo MCA's suggestion. MCA wouldn't know a good pistol if a bucket of 1911's dropped on his head.

They missed the needler pistols from Gamma World, Star Frontiers, and Traveller. (No doubt many more.)Icabod wrote:Ok let's just keep the old weapons and not have anything new, sounds good to me

Phillistines.
there is some basis in fallout from guns in our world. examples from fallout 1: the bare-bones SMG is an MP9; the assault rifle is an AK-112.
all the guns should have a patriotic american feel, however. as toxic said - no ruski bullshit. but smith & wesson, h&k, etc. - by all means yes, as long as they're not too tweaked out and modern (OICWs are a no-no).

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Starship Troopers was written in the 1950's.atoga wrote:there is some basis in fallout from guns in our world. examples from fallout 1: the bare-bones SMG is an MP9; the assault rifle is an AK-112.

Retro-futurism can have some OICW-type stuff. But it has to look Buck Rogerish.
Directional radio beams existed, masers were invented, the "AR" in radar means "and ranging", man portable ground radars had the tech developed, so the OICW targeting function would be possible- easily possible by a retro-futuristic 2077.
Grenade launchers, etc. had existed for a long time before the 50's - although the m203 wasn't made until the '60s and deployed in the '70s.
Making uber-techno-gun is exactly the kind of thing that a retrofuturistic '50s would do.
I do agree that the modern techno guns just don't fit.
WW2 and Rayguns plus a little extra stuff. That's it for me.
