Fallout "Armor"

Post by Aonaran »

Howdy homos, for whatever reason I'm taking a sculpture course this semester and one of the assignments is to make a suit of armor. Naturally the first thing that came to my mind was the Fallout series and how badass it would be to have some crazy raider armor or found object radiation suit. So far i'm pulling my influences from 12 Monkeys, the Mad Max series and of course the fallout games.

While i've got most of the head portion taken care of I am running into some problems with the body. If there are any good resources for post apoc art or other films I should check out let me know. I'll post images of the suit as it progresses for suggestions and/or criticism.

you're probably best off first looking at modern body armour, then working off of that in a post apoc way. i dunno, look at google, books on modern military. see who the costume designer was for road warrior, he probably has an e-mail address or some funk. something else you could look at is perhaps the burning man festival or that collection of photos from soldiers in africa or whatever where they wear life preservers and shit.

if a bomb fell now, what objects do you have at hand that could be used as armour?

Modern armor is really just kevlar lined web vests with pockets front and back for an armor plate.

It's funny how much an 40k Ork he resembles.

He's not green though.

I was thinking more that bubble suit they had him in when he sees the grizzly bear, that was more along the lines of the radiation suit idea.
Very cool, the site gave me alot of new ideas to work with. I am renting a digital camera now from the school Library and should have some pictures to post sometime tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Here is the original concept drawing I scribbled in class 5 or so minutes before it was due:

Here is what I have so far, minus the eye piece:

And with it:

Here is my next sketch for what I want to do with the facemask:

Image

What I want to do with the mask is to get a piece of black fabric to wrap around the respirator and drape down as shown in the picture, the air filter and coil of tubing will protrude through it in two small holes. The coil of tubing already goes down into a small CO2 canister I used for paintballing on my hip that I have spraypainted green to imply it is full of oxygen.

More on the cuirass, leggings et all as I progress.

Nothing finer than brazilian ass, eh?

Here's a disclaimer: only foreigners like samba. And people with really bad taste.

I forgot to answer this, hehe. We're all from the same vault... er... same forum. But we're not as big as DAC, or another communities, so we visit them for news, etc...

By the way, I don't like samba and carnaval, but I like the butts too.

Definetly not.
I mean... they're allright... if they're not too old. At the end of the 20s they become disgusting.

What's the general Brazilian opinion on Bethesda's Fallout 3? Is the Braz. press machine anything worth raving about, in size that is? Our upcoming Fallout3.org project does have the need to attract Fallout rebels of as many diverse nationalities as possible, and so we're looking for translators and basicly a community as multi-national as possible.
