3D art from Fallout 3? RUMORS

Post by King of Creation »

<strong>[ Game -> Images ]</strong> - More info on <a href="#Bethesda Softworks">Company: Bethesda Softworks</a> | More info on <a href="#Liquid Development">Company: Liquid Development</a> | More info on <a href="#Fallout 3">Game: Fallout 3</a>

<p>Rumors? </p>
<p>Art house <a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/">Liquid Development</a> has posted a few images on their website that some forum readers think might be accidentally leaked 3D objects from Bethesda's <em>Fallout 3.</em></p>
<p>Why would they think this? Well, Liquid Development has already done <a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/projec ... ls_4">work for Bethesda on Oblivion</a>. On all of the other images that are on the website, the client is identified. On the images in question, however, we are left we a glaring " Client | To Be Announced". In addition, the images look like they might fit well in a post-apocalyptic game. Check them out:</p>
<blockquote>
<p><a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/servic ... jpg">Image 1: Shed </a></p>
<p><a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/servic ... jpg">Image 2: Crane</a></p>
<p><a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/servic ... jpg">Image 3: Buggy</a></p>
<p><a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/servic ... pg">Weapon 1</a>, <a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/servic ... pg">Weapon 2</a>, <a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/servic ... pg">Weapon 3</a></p>
<p>And less likely: <a target="_self" href="http://www.liquiddevelopment.com/servic ... e.jpg">New mutant</a></p>
</blockquote>
<p>I'm not convinced that these are images from Fallout 3. Bethesda has been too careful not to let anything slip. I doubt that they'd not clamp down on this. Regardless, it's fun to speculate. </p>
<p>Thanks to <strong>Lonegunman</strong>. </p>

That's what I thought too. But enough people pointed it out to me that I decided to make a post about it.

looks more like half-lyfe 2 concept art than anything related to fallout.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Looks more like something from that game Bandits a few years back.

Is anyone else bothered how big developers sort of outsource their own game development? There's a company that does cutscenes. Another does 3d models. Another sells textures. Just textures. I don't remember it always being like this. Now we've got Epic practically finishing games for everybody with Unreal Engine 3 spreading like a virus. I dunno where I'm going with this maybe because I got 2 hours of sleep. Fallout 4 Unreal powered.

That's a mighty fine shed.

The buggy on the other hand would be wrong on so many levels.

Yeah i know where youre getting at, and its going in that direction. No doubt. Gaming industri need to adopt a strategi with less Toyota components and more John Deere. (John Deere being a 100% domestic product)

No, unless you want to pay twice as much for the product.

They will, most likely, make a ton of bad descisions and fuck things up royally. Like Firstperson, bad dialogue, and FO3 will be hated even more than FO:BOS.

But a buggy such as the one depicted would waaay too retarded even for bethesda.

When looking at that buggy I thought about "Dune" and "Earth 2150".

Yeah thats something which botheres me, too. Especially Fallout is a product which shouldnt be treated this way. Its okay when they send concept arts to a outsource studio for models, but they might not catch the Fallout feeling which we want and when its already ordered then its already too late. Paid is paid. This also goes for the epic music. "I want you to create some dark music" Epicmusiccreator answers "Okay here you have it" - Developer: "wtf? its still epic shit!" etc....

The dumbest thing is, if you seek some outdoor studio for concept arts and then seek some outsource studio for modelling. double fucked.

it's actually better for the artists this way as they tend to be the first ones fired/let go once a dev cycles ends. This way they can be stable and working year round at the same company rather than being treated as "overpaid QA guys" once the art assets are "done" and the focus is more on bug squishing/programming tweaks.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

If we look at the individual pictures, the crane & the shack isn't that bad, imo. However, I feel somehow, that there way to clean visually, in the style they are presented to us. And by that I mean you can't see the 90-120 years toll of the time that supposedly should have happened to them.

I also don't think that they woudl release in ANY form unfinished projects. Too much possible shit-hit-the-fan scenarios.

Wow, that shed model is pretty ass kicking. Very Falloutish. The crane isn't bad too, although I never saw a crane in any Fallout game so far.

The buggy reminds me of FOT. Teh horror. And the weapons look like real-life ones. That's bad.
