just watched Le Locataire
it's very good, a nice psychotic trip by the man himself, go watch it if you haven't already

Currently loading Rosemary and Repulsion which are supposed to be dope, too? Any other recommendations? I think he made some films with Kinski as well, eh

Knife in the Water was his first movie, and I've heard it's pretty good. Repulsion is supposed to be excellent. Chinatown was lame.

Chinatown is amazing if you have any love for film noir whatsoever. Knife in the Water is good too, Rosemary's Baby was good but not my thing.

Try Kieslowski too, his Red/White/Blue trilogy was excellent.

In my world, film noir has a) an interesting plot, b) compelling characters, c) strong atmosphere, or d) all of the above. Chinatown had none of the above. It's fake film noir, not real film noir. Also, Jack Nicholson sleepwalks through the whole thing, and the most famous line in the movie makes no freaking sense.

You gotta wonder if he does it on purpose or not.

The ending still doesn't justify having to put up with a whinning, fussy Mia Farrow for so long.

I don't think I could've kept watching if Cassovetes wasn't in it.

Ja, I was also wondering why she didn't really run off, she didn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed, though.

Anyway, also watched Repulsion today, or rather let it fly by. It was so boring that I skipped the ending. Maybe I'll rewatch it someday with more attention D:
