Two of the best snipers in history used either Mosin-Nagant or a copy of it, so yeah. Their "kill scores" came from WW2, though, and since people had the tendency to die a lot back then, it's not really that easy to compare to modern stuff.

Indeed. That the firearm is the major contributor to a kill, and not the man firing it, is a fallacy perpetrated by many of you lesser humans.

It is quickly -- and violently -- disproved.

When I did telephone surveys for the US Forest Service sometimes I would use the name "Octagon". Actually worked more times than you would think, just not as well as "Triangle."

I've got some badass black powder paper shotgun shells I've been meaning to shoot, but that is as far into the realm of the old that I have ventured unfortunately (minus my single action army, rock on).

My old nemesis, Kirk, once constructed a primitive cannon from bamboo, sulfur, potassium nitrate and charcoal. It fired a diamond that brought down his brutal adversary. Quite ancient methods, and very telling of the capacity for guile the old captain possessed. Oh, he was a worthy adversary.

i'm looking to pick up an 1852 army revolver in .45, possibly stainless.

Also thinking of a Remington 770. Mainly because I can get it in .300 win mag and buy a conversion from cabelas for 10 round detachable box magazines.

The Perfect Gun ( Actually "Dali's Handgun")

Welcome To My Dream

Written by Mark Griffin ( MC 900 Foot Jesus)

Synopsis

beat poetry.. Mark admits this was a filler track, he took the lines from various poems read in a book.
Samples

* First 30 seconds or so (MP3)

Lyrics

The perfect gun
The perfect gun is not visible
The perfect gun exists in a savage state
The perfect gun confers omnipotence
The perfect gun will follow the free tendencies of desire
The perfect gun its like a rosary around the neck
The perfect gun stretches as far as the eye can see
The perfect gun seeks all your reflected images
The perfect gun The perfect gun is sufficient unto the day
The perfect gun is nothing but a crossroads
The perfect gun keeps its promise for everyone
The perfect gun is a pill dropped in a glass of water
The perfect gun is the household crow
The perfect gun leaves in a shadow of perfumes
The perfect gun is an illusion on a surface of memory
The perfect gun is a finger resting on the controls of a broken machine
The perfect gun is too soft to be honest and too honest to be true
The perfect gun turns as it pleases toward all horizons
The perfect gun is perfect sadism, at least as a method
The perfect gun is a flower beaten by the rough fever of the wind
The perfect gun can be rearranged in all possible combinations
The perfect gun is a bueatiful chimera
The perfect gun is an idealist without taking part in any ideal
The perfect gun takes the shapes and colors of demoralizarion and confusion
The perfect gun crouches to intercept shadows
The perfect gun is not in the habit of saluting the dead
The perfect gun will always find buyers
The perfect gun is at most a thinking reed
The perfect gun has drawn the symbol of the infinite
The perfect gun is not incompatible with a certain nobility of thought
The perfect gun is watching over a blue glass
The perfect gun writes sad and ardent love letters
The perfect gun is a hierarchy, like any other
The perfect gun is a door someone opened
The perfect gun implies that there are others behind it
The perfect gun is a dark intention
The perfect gun never waits for itself
The perfect gun is hard as the incredible hammering and no questions underneath
The perfect gun is a reference point
The perfect gun is neither my shadow, nor my double, nor my half nor another myself
The perfect gun is blood at water level
The perfect gun is half of a destiny
The perfect gun has nothing to do before dying
The perfect gun leaves an exquisite corpse
(perfect)
(perfect)
(perfect)
(perfect)
(perfect)

Also try The City Sleeps (great song about arson).

I love this album.

His other ones suck.

But he's a pilot now so his music career doesn't matter.

Ok. german guns dont count.

But i still stand by my statement. Even the first
assault rifles were made using the earlier machine-pistols, the breach-
loading rifles and the heavy machineguns as benchmarks. It should fire
like a machine pistol, pack the punch of a rifle, and be
able to spray large caliber rounds like a machine-gun.

all guns are not updates of other guns, , the h&K g11 ISINT, the nagant revolver isn't, the lemat isn't , the S&W 50. is but the Taurus raging bull isint, the star 9mm isn't, the sig 9mm with he built in baffle silencer isn't, the spas 12 isn't, the xm-26 isn't, the dardic revolver isn't, those are all revolutionary guns , not updates or redux.

never belittle the are of the gunsmith or designer,
they have given us more than guns, and bullets, the y have given us heroes, villains, conquests, they have saved lives and ended corrupt ones, they have lifted us to where we are, in 200 years we went from bow and arrow to cruise missile, guns gave us cars, t.v , flush toilets, radio, and communication, without them it would have taken us at least 800 years to have gained at least this far, thank god, jesus, and Satan for the development of
gun powder and guns.
