We had a short lecture about the T-55 the other day and even it can fire infrared screening smoke grenades. I don't know who invented it, but apparently it's a cheap and easy to take in use and most, even outdated, tanks have taken advantage of the technology.

ROFL sounds a little like "Waffles" which sounds kinda like Waffen-SS. See a pattern emerging here?

MBT-70 pretty much did everything that the later M1 did. However, the US gov't didn't feel like spending $1 million/copy in 1970 dollars. (So they ended up spending $2.4 million in 1983 dollars...)

I recall seeing one of the MBT 70 prototypes on Ft. Knox in a traffic circle back in '90. I wonder if it's still there.

OTB

BTW, this whole extension to 15 month tours bites big donkey dick. Would have left in June, but now it ain't until November...

The MBT70's variable suspension was a pretty neat feature, not sure how it would have withstood the test of battle though.
