how would one of those swell guy ass geek linux thingies with vmware vm running win xp perform, compared to win xp? i have liek dual gore 2.8ghz, 2gb ram, and stuf, gonna buy one of those raptors soon.

It would perform decently, I have a system that's a bit slower than yours and used to run an XP VM in an XP host as dumb as that may sound and it was pretty fast.

Don't expect wonders, though, games are a no-no for the most part, you might run games that are ten years old perhaps, but for internet surfing it's more than enough.

this sounds like bullshit from a glance - it's either useless or equivalent to configuring your services right (just find a guide for this)

That's the problem with quick glances, they easily lead to wrong conclusions.

It is indeed the equivalent of configuring the windows services, put in a neat little .bat file
