But Tyranid hive fleets also travel through the warp, and create an affect similar to a warp storm (they completely block communications and create a warp "shadow" that is detectable by psykers).

Yeah, but the Shadow of the Warp is something only sensed by pskyers, its in the warp itself, so if that cloud had anything to do with the Tyranids, then it would be a Tyranid Hive Fleet coming down onto the planet.
