I prefer comparing RPG's to other RPG's; in absolute terms, and not in relation to some awful RPG year.
Oh come on, it wasn't just me talking about "years"

so I just continued in the same vein picking the nearest comparison available - the previous years, geez.

Well sometimes it's not enough to read just the title. Surprise!

I didn't want to think about RPG :disappointment:
But I guess I cheated either way :suspense:

Best game of 2008? uhhh.....I'll say would be Far Cry 2 and Call of Duty online, of course.

Nothing really stood out to me this year but I would say I played FO3 the most in terms of single player. I played mass effect in 2007 and I would probably put it on the same level as FO3. I played the x pack MOTB for NWN2 earlier this year and that was alright but the engine was so shit it kind of destroyed any merit.

The game i probably played the most was TF2 and that came out in 2007 too and I was like the type who played it a lot while hating a lot of it at the same time.

I just got l4d so maybe that will be game of the year material like most of you guys have been saying.

I'd probably have to nominated FO3 as game of the year, heh.

I'll nominate Far Cry 2, I guess because it was the only game that I thought stood out for me.

Far cry 2 seems to have been very mixed for people. It was hyped up pretty well before release then when it came out people either hated or loved it....or thought it was okay. Looking back in retrospect most people didn't like it it seems.

I still have it unopened, have been meaning to play it.

If you like driving between small outposts and getting shot up for no other reason than being there, and no option to shoot out of your vehicle while driving, then sure. Great game.

Ok, then:

My nominations for Best Game 2008
Call of Duty 4
Mass Effect 1 (for PC)
Drakensang - (the German version) If this is not allowed, then The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

Best RPG 2008:
Mass Effect
Fallout 3
Drakensang/The Witcher:Enhanced Edition.

Why isn't there an award for best adventure game in 2008: If there were my nominations would be
Rhiannon-curse of the four branches
Nikopol
Sinking Island
(these are all based on the European releases as I don't if they are all out in the US yet?)

Games keep getting worse every year, by now these nominations feel like digging through a bucket of shit for corn on the cob. Also, Witcher/ME were released 2007.

Expansion. And it looks halfway between Grey Fox and Cyber-Raiden from Metal Gear Solid. Nice job Bethesda; can't even get the retro-future aesthetics right anymore.
