Yeah I trust Brian Fargo and Tim Schafer to deliver something pretty decent but anything more just seems like someone trying to ride the gravy ie the probability of delivered promises fades as more and more obscure devs of old step up to the plate.
I pledged the bare minimum for this but besides the Banner Saga, I am no longer pledging for anything until I actually play something that I pledged for and the what I pledged was well worth it.

...because they're all being developed by the same team? What's the logic here? You either support the bussiness model and pay for a promise of something you want, or you don't.Stalagmite wrote:I am no longer pledging for anything until I actually play something that I pledged for and the what I pledged was well worth it.
Not supporting a model you like because one of the games you paid for was crap is daft when the games come from different developers. If you really expect to get exactly what you paid for 24/7, then <strike>Marcus Brody</strike> Walter Donovan would like to have a word with you. Also, to slap you across the tits like a dumb ho.

You're a dumbass, why don't you go save the rainforest or some shit?
What I'm saying is that I'm giving it a chance and am hoping for the best by donating to a few projects that sound promising. Also, the two who are getting the most press attention are Brian Fargo and Tim Schafer, therefore it would be suicidal to their careers if they failed to deliver, so for now I can give them the benefit of the doubt. If it fails, and we get shitted on, bye bye Kickstarter, you'll never get another dime from me.
There is such thing as a middle ground, and I think it's a good thing to be cautiously optimistic about something that sounds good on paper but really hasn't fulfilled any promises yet due to still being in the early stages. BE prepared for massive butthurt, just in case.

So what's failure here? A bad game? Guv hed'n off wi' the moneh? And then what, suddenly everyone else is a liar/incompetent? Kickstarter ain't a publisher, Fargo and Schafer aren't their devs, so why the fuck would you treat the whole thing like it was/they were?Stalagmite wrote:If it fails, and we get shitted on, bye bye Kickstarter, you'll never get another dime from me.
'Cause they'll prolly use the pledge money to club baby seals. 'Sides it's your natural habitat, you save it. Think of it as a MMO quest, since you like that shit. Collect 40 dry leaves for 100xp/10gold. OMG SO ADDICTEEV!Stalagmite wrote:why don't you go save the rainforest or some shit?

If they don't deliver it doesn't matter how they got the funding, it'll be the same as the shit you get on xbawkz. The difference being that we're pitching in as sponsors for something that sounds good without a glimpse of what the end result might be -- that shit is hopeful to say the least. Not that I'm completely pessimistic about it, but there's people out there going "Games industry is saved!" and that usually spells disappointment.
