It' was just a proposal. No need to shout at eahother just beacause of my idea of a good game...

Fallout should remain in the US, preferably western US. That's where it begun, that's where it will end.
Do you want this game too be the last one they make???

What a horrible idea. This would make for recycled towns, generic NPCs and (God forbid) randomly generated loot. And if BIS can't keep the story straight when keeping to two states, imagine what they'll do with six continents. "Well, the Chinese were developing something called VFE, Virus of Forced Evolution, and so there's lots of big critters in China. Here's a plasma rifle."
I didn't mean they should recreate every damn piece of stone in the whole damn world. I meant they could just make some cities in the bigger countries like China, Russia & the US and then some....

Hello? Anyone home? Again, how would they explain the trekking of what would be literally months of travel on foot, to go to that distance? Unless this is some "sightseeing tour" nonsense.

Again, read this thread, NOW!

im assuming there would be some mode of transportation to get there like the tanker going to the oil rig but its a good idea to keep it in the US. And what is so bad about recyled towns and stuff they seemed to handle it pretty well from fallout and fallout 2 so why couldn't the do it from fo2 to fo3 huh?

I never said so. In fact, it's not even sure we'll see a new Fallout title.

What I meant was, that Fallout doesn't need to be a worldwide adventure. There's plenty of possibilities on how to continue the story in Western USA, for example in Nevada, Washington state, southern California etc. Why move it away and possibly spoil the whole setting? Personally, I think it's better we don't know much about the outside world, it's more fun to speculate about that.

Why not the raunchy cold, winter Siberia? :D

Anyways, I agree that FO3 should take place in West Coast. This is the best way to protect the retro-style and the apocalypse-enviroment.

You know the funny thing is that Feargus said they'd never use the Fallout engine again because they didn't want to be accused of using the same engine too many times. You have to love that.

However, I'm not sure why they'd push to go to 3D. If IPLY ever gets in to another rut like they were in when BIS was pumping out the Infinity Engine games and all they had was a 3D engine, they'd be screwed. 2D engines are much more reusable than 3D because one of the stigmas of a 3D engine is that they're required to keep up with the trends.

Well i still dont see whats wrong with using the same engine. Why mess with perfection. Actually a new engine might steer me away from playing a fallout 3. Then again after 3 months i'd give in and get it like i did with fot.

Did it ever occur to you that you're not the only person in this world possibly buying Fallout 3 when it comes out? Most gamers have at least decent graphics as a factor in their buying decisions. I'm not saying Fallout engine is bad, but sales-wise using it would be stupid. The Fallout-engine fanbase is not that big.

I live as much in USA as you live in Ethiopia.

I've been trying to say that the Fallout atmosphere suffers if it's moved away from western usa. Some important parts of Fallout would be missing if Fallout 3 would take place in, for example, China. No vault-network, no Enclave, no FEV, no super mutants... You don't need to be an american to understand that, which I'm not.

Clue Patrol, Sparky. The atmosphere and setting of the game is what would be a future as depicted by the sci-fi writers of the US in the 50's and 60's, when cigar rockets and robots were wild in the popular imagination, right alongside possible nuclear attacks from Cuba.

Also, you seem to be dodging the point of a good reason to travel all over the world, given that most forms of travel are destroyed.

Now, you can take your pissy misplaced dreck rant there and throw it away, instead work on thinking about game design and if there's a real need for locations around the world. There's no real purpose for it in the storyline and wouldn't be unless there's some real hokey reason, it's still a superficial "sightseeing tour", which renders a good portion of the development into crap.

I don't live in the US.
If you think Fallout 3 can happen in a place outside of the US you don't have any understanding of the Fallout setting. I think Rosh pretty much covered it, so I won't bother to explain.

And please don't post random flames, you already tried that once and it didn't work.
And in case your'e wondering it is flame. Your entire post's purpose was to make people mad.
I don't know if this has anything to do with the Khans closing down or not, frankly I don't really care.
Stop, or the admins will deal with you.

Alright, let's stop all of this racialism, and get back to the topic. I live in Poland and i don't want Fo3 to take place in Tomaszkowo under Olsztyn either. But what was the topic again? oops  i've forgotten, never mind, you know - US and nowhere else, that's for certain - one of the things that i wanted to hear in my last topic on this forum that Dan locked  .

Well i dont want to be put into the same group of people as them because i actually think it was a good thing. I mean we are so overpopulated anyways... No i think that i want it set in USA because like i said before why mess with perfection and bot fallouts were great. It has nothing to do with our country but that was the way it was made. Really if it was another country i'm guessing that the wastes wouldn't be as harsh considering that the US is not exactly ready for any type of crisis because nothing really bad has ever happened here yet. Also we ask for help because we know we can get .

As for the WTC, foreign help was symbolic.

As for Americans... despite what the politicians are used to saying, you're not liked in the world. That's because you meddle with not your affairs. And that's the main reason of those attacks. :?

If everybody in here know the fallout setting then you should know that the chinese were involved in the war to......I'm no writer and I know that I wouldn't be able to make a good story, but i think that the timeline isn't the only thing that should change like FO2 is played 100 years after FO1 and FOT was played between those years exept it was played in the Chicago area....How about making a game played in China or something....

And that has something to do with the placement of Fallout 3 because...?
FO2 is played 100 years after FO1
Wha-? Surely you mean 80 years. Or did i miss the latest update of the FO bible again?

FO1 and 2 covered what, like 2 states? I'd much rather see the story continue in USA, than starting a new one in China, Europe, Africa or Australia. You'd have to abandon everything from Fallout 1 and 2, and start all over in a new environment. It simply wouldn't be Fallout.
