he Godfather is about as close to my idea of the perfect cocktail as any I've come across. Two ingredients, simple measurements, no garnish, no equipment needed besides a stir stick, alcoholic but not overly so, sweet but not too sweet, masculine with a slightly feminine edge, and perfect for just about any occasion. This is my Martini.

Godfather
1 1/2 oz blended scotch (J&B)
3/4 oz amaretto (Di Saronno)

Combine in a rocks glass with a few cubes, stir.

I used J&B, but I imagine a more hearty blend like Chivas or Gordon Highlander's would work equally well. Just don't use single malt.

Is it true that garlic helps against a cold? And if so does it merely prevent future colds or does it assist in combatting one which has already been contracted?

Nothing cures a cold, goobers, not even garlic (which is usually magical). Take some Robitussin and go to bed.

well garlic has a powerful germicidal (antibacterial) effect and works more or less like a natural antibiotic but isn't harmful to your system the way real antibiotics are. But then there's the smell

Oh BTW, for medical purpose only use fresh garlic. If you fry/bake/cook it it looses its potential and it's all gone in about 20 minutes.

If you want to fight the very cold (but not go as far as antibiotics that fuck your system), use LARGE doses of C vitamin regularly + Rutosidum + Calcium (you can get these three in one pill, but I'd recommend more of C vit.), eat garlic (there are delicious italian dishes with fresh garlic or you can come up with something yourself), and eat honey - natural, not that fucking sufar-made ersatz (bees' prducts boost your natural immunity system etc) - even better you could use propolis in some form.

If, on the contrary, you want to beat the symptoms of cold (particularly high temp.) and you think your body can beat the actual illness on its own in the meantime, then just buy some anti-cold drug with a big dose of ibuprofenum or paracetamol or naproxen (don't mix em tho). Be careful: if your 'cold' is serious, these drugs will leave your system even more vulnerable and after inital success it can get worse than before.

Oh and you should also stay in bad as much as possible (all the time actually)
