Yeah. Remember the awful voice acting in Infinite Engine games? That's what happens when you focus on quantity, not quality.

Amen.

Master for the win, anyway. Even without voice acting that character would rock.

Pardon me for not reading through the previous 15 pages of this ridiculously thriving thread, but I'd really appreciate it if vehicles were more accessible in FO3.

This idea had probably been mentioned already, but it was just too damn exciting when I got my ride in FO2, I remember staying up all night playing that several times over back in highschool.

One of the things that makes the post-nuclear, Madmax setting so attractive to me is how hard it is to come by useable technology as this "vault-dweller" who ironically comes off as almost primitive. After spending half the game stealing every valuable piece of equipment (and sighing about how much I couldn't pick up), the beat up ol' car was such a welcoming addition...as well as a HUGE change of pace in terms of travelling. My baby was always full of fuel cells (courtesy of the caravans and the cultists), and I loved riding around the dessert so much. The trunk space was very nice, and whenever I was ambushed during my travels, I had a higher chance of running away, which I never actually did. It was fun to use the car as a cover against multiple opponents and make them run around to get a clear shot, which came in handy quite often.

A variety of vehicles would be nice too. Now that you've destroyed the Enclave from the face of the planet, everything should be left at your disposal. Pass me that blow torch, robo-dogmeat!!

A couple more, before I get back to my work here:

In addition to the vehicle, owning a house would be nice too. Sure, you could walk into a place and slaughter everyone and call it your own in the previous games, but that would sometimes turn the entire town against you. So, possibly a remote location on the map with your own editable crib might be nice. Mix it with a flavor of "Trading Spaces" so you can move furniture around and add new things at any point. Maybe have some raiders break in at one point, and steal some stuff or something like that.

Also, some trade skills would be nice too. This would work much better if FO3 was an MMORPG, but trade skills add so much more flexibility in RPG's. Gather ingredients and modify a weapon, armor, or even your vehicle.

Just keep in mind that the Fallout setting was never a Road Warrior style motorcade. This is actually one of the major disputes about the setting. In my opinion, there are several reasons why cars were so scarce in Fallout; the limited supply of fuel/energy cells, the lack of unscavenged, functional cars and car parts etc. Like in Fallout 2, you had to hunt for the right parts in order to make the car operational. Caravans used car parts as wagons.

Chris Avellone, who made the Fallout Bibles, had a more 'car-friendly' view of the setting(steam tractors and a vehicle-intense New Reno, iirc), but I think we all can agree on that a large scale car usage would be over the top.

However, it's an undeniable fact that some of the war-torn cities are beginning to rebuild themselves and resurrect old technologies.

Given they weren't readily available in the first two games, the desire for more efficient modes of transportation is simply inevitable. You know they can make 'em. Both the technology and resources are available in the land. They have fuel cells, petrol, electricity...anything else? Both the BoS and Enclave were getting their resources from somewhere, right?

They were getting their ressources from hidden underground facilities or something. Nobody outside of them had access to that, and now both are destroyed.

That sort of organized governance was not present in Fallout and Fallout 2 and we're already talking about events that occur almost 150 after the Vaults opened. Perhaps BoS or Vault City could be considered as capable of resurrecting old tech, but they were pretty isolated anyway. But in general, the wastes are in a state of disorganized anarchy.

Fuel and energy were scarce to begin with, hence the great war. Vehicles cannot completely be excluded, but a large scale usage would seem implausible to me.

There's more info about vehicles in the Wiki - link

I want Fallout 1 with V.B. engine ^^ that would make F3 really awesome! :D

No it wouldn’t.

I mean interesting thought, remaking F1 on a newer engin. But we have all already played F1 to death, that is the reason we need F3.

Now stop making shit up...

Lying is a sin!

Third-Person POV. I don't care what else they put in the game as long as I don't have to walk through the whole game in the first person.
