It's a retarded feature to request at the brink of franchise doom, but yeah sure -- a face system ala ofp/aa.

yes

In the late '80s they had this uber-earnest grumpy old man talking about how people lived right in the Good Old Days.

OR

I mean if I can make a character that actually looked like me in Tony Hawk for PSX and all those shitty WrestleMania games for N64, I should be able to make a character that looks like me for an RPG....I should be the Vault Dweller rather than a pre-rendered texture-fest of ambiguity.

Actually, I seriously want this. I get a kick out of playing a game where the character actually looks like me. If they could do it in the mid-90's, they sure as shit should be able to do it now. I mean come on...You can put yourself into The Sims, Unreal TK, and a bevy of other games...Why shouldn't it be so with an RPG?
I want to have a tree growing out of my head, like Harold.

Its the new thing: Chia Punks.

Like crusty punks but they wear a few layers of netting.(For a trellis effect.)
Soil and seeds collect.
They prefer thorn vines.

Chia Hippies go for flowers instead.
(With some aquarium parts and a bit of tedium perhaps thay could plant pot and become ganja-symbiotes.)

Actually, someone really did make the town of Quartz into a map for FoT. It's pretty cool but... Ehh. You'd have to see for yourself.

I still have it in my FOT folder.

That sounds cool except... do they make their own fuel from underground mushrooms? Steal it? Maybe they're super mutants with a large pre-war stockpile?

I'll try not to repeat what anyone else has said. Some ideas to play with...

Explosives with large (yet balanced) blast radiuses. Flamable furniture, with realistic physics to boot. While on the subject of bombs and the like, it'd be cool to allow projectiles to be thrown through certain windows, and around corners.

Stacks of new death, but mostly injury animations with plenty of gore. Additionally NPCs can loose limbs after very powerfull, or repeated aimed shots. Aswell as a little sensibility in realising certain weapons will tear people apart differently.

Some very limited ability to shoot through wooden walls and the like. (Considering your character hasn't got X-ray vision, there'll be some massive aiming penalties introduced for that kind of scenario. Wouldn't really be that usefull. I envision it's more a case of NPCs being able to shoot you if you camp behind a doorway and vice versa.)

More dependance on doctors. I don't know about you. But I don't remember going to a doctor for repairs at all... Well maybe once, but thats it. So I'd like to implement 'bleeding to death', 'internal bleeding', 'infected wounds' and all the other stuff like that. Needing treatment a.s.a.p. Or it's game over.

It's already been said but more variation in character models when neardeath, ill, or radiated (etc.) would be ace.

:bored:

you're forgetting the doctor and first aid skills and stimpacks and doctor bags and first aid kits. In the wasteland, you're the doctor.

Varying kinds of injuries would be cool tho; you get internal bleeding and if your doc skill isn't good enough and you don't find a real doc soon, you kick the bucket, even though HP loss was small at start.

Yes your right, those skills did slip my mind...

But even so. I was more thinking that you would need a doctor to perform major operations. And perform them regularly;
Bearing in mind all the bullets that would collect up inside you. You probably wouldn't be able to remove them yourself. Even if you are The Vault Dweller!

Actually, I think that grenades should be nerfed a little bit, but the player should be allowed more access to them. I.e. in Fallout 2, with Throw skill on 100%, a Plasma Grenade could easily take out 3-4 enemies in one blast. The reason for why people didn't use it that much was because of the general lack of them in the game.

If the blasts were made a little less powerful, and a readily available supply of them were added into the game, I think that it would spice up the combat a little bit (but then again, it will most probably not be turn-based, so fuck grenades).

I wouldn't mind if FO3 would turn out to be a brilliant FPS with cool death animations

But we all know it will be utter shit anyway, so whatever

Actually, that sounds like the best thing that Bethesda could possibly come up with.
