2nd one was "COME AND GET IT!! OH FUCK! RUN RUN RUN!"
The rest...shite...absolutely shite. I once read about the Alien premiere. Heheheh... People were in hysteria and crying and quite shocked and scared shitless...(that's no E.T.!). Specially when you think that it was shown in 1979! There was nothing like that and then you are face to face with H.R. Gigers little puppy...

There must have been something as shocking before that? Maybe Jaws would be considered a big shock because it made people afraid to go into the water.

I don't think Aliens was better. Not by a long shot. It was pretty dumbed down, and threw out a lot of the design choices Giger had for the alien in the first one. Make an action movie instead of a horror movie.
Granted following up Alien in the same vein wouldn't have been very good, probably. But it's still better than any of its sequels.
