To moderators and administrators: Please delete my old topic (Title: Fallout MMORPG? Why not!) It is being spammed!

it's not being spammed and an essential feature for me would be per person one account. per account one character.

no perma-death. you just lose your current possessions.
no experience points or whatnot needed to improve your character. it should depend on you and your skills.

Maybe there should also be some advanced stuff like nano robots!

nah, that would totally fuck up the fallout feel.
if you want a nano-crappenfest, go play anarchy online.

I have to agree with Mikey. If you think nanotechnology has any part in Fallout, then you've obviously missed a huge chunk of what Fallout is. You've certainly missed the two obvious things about it, the 1950s Sci-Fi roots and the post apocalyptic thing.

Then again, I'm never shocked when a FOOL supporter doesn't know the basics.

I dunno about that one player slot thing though... I mean, yeah it'd keep the pop down, but I like being an evil bastard sometimes. I'd like to have 1 in the BOS and 1 that's maybe a raider. 1 slot would be fine if i was paying like 5 bucks a month though... i'd just buy another slot.

GASP!

You said something contrary to the blissfull Hakunin Happy Smoke Dreams! You are now a "BIGGOT", too! Oh, dear! 8)

Edit:
Then again, I'm never shocked when a FOOL supporter doesn't know the basics.
I stopped being shocked about three years ago, when some mentioned super tanks and gun turrets and other stuff that belonged in a futuristic RTS or squad FPS game on the old DAC forums One of these days I'll go back through some of the archives forums I have and compile some of the most ludicrous examples and publish them onto some of the Usenet groups I haunt. Namely a few MMORPG newsgroups where a lot of sysops of MMORPGs post relatively incognito, and perhaps onto a couple of MUD related ones, too. I'm sure KaVir would get a chuckle out of this, too.

Maybe there should also be some advanced stuff like nano robots!

On the 29th of December 1959, Richard Feynman gave a talk which is accepted to be the begining of the realisation of the possibility of what we now call "nanotechnology". It's not a bad read, and you can find it here:

http://www.zyvex.com/nanotech/feynman.html

Even this talk is a little late for fallouts '50s style sci-fi type tech, and this was just the start of the ideas.

And if you talk of nano-robots, you don't really understand the field. This [edit: talk of nano-robots] is far more sci-fi than science. So if FO was a late '90s retro themed sci-fi futuristic RPG nano robots might be relevant as a sci-fi component of the technology.

Now, as St. P. said, any robots would (and are, in the games) be more like macro-robots than nano-robots :-) Big things with lots of vacuum tubes, chrome finishes and ray-guns.

"Advanced stuff" in the context of FO would be either '50s esque sci-fi, or high tech from the '50s (primitive transistors would be an example of this).

And I agree with Mikey that nano-anything would ruin the feel.

What about personal robots? Like a brainbot or Mr. Handy. And when the person is offline, they are so well hidden that none else can find them. But the logging off shouldn't be allowed during combat, otherwise if someone is losing, he'd just unplug his phone line and save his character. Say if someone disconnects during combat, they dropped gear and ran away. It saves the character, but at a cost.

they shouldnt make FOOL cause it would suck. go play some other game, and leave the OL out of FO (lol)

you cannot post Fallout and MMORPG in the same scentence and not get a reaction

I suggest that if a mmorpg is made then there will be no freaking saving your charater. Your charater would lie down when you log off. He would remian there unless attacked in witch case the computer would simulate the battle. So if you log off when u are losing a battle you die unless you preform some super amaizing critical hits.

If a mmorpg was to come about wouldn't only be fair to he gamer to tweak ur characters of the internet........like say ur some new guy and u start the game of othe internet......suddenly ur surrounded by veean players who just wanna kick ur ass for fun (like me) anyways what the hell are you gonna do try to blow them away at level one with no partners or high tec weaponery when there a group of like 6 with lvl. ???,??? characters hoping o gain expeirence and cntinu the game or are you gonna wanna improve your cahracter to where u can at least kill a traveler  ........Just a thought...... :? if anyone has anycommets e-mail me at Thebanished@aol.com

Ok first you need to fix your keyboard or something becuase all your posts are very hard to read. Plus maybe killing another player thats much lower than you would give you low karma or trigger some sort of random encounters that punish the player for their misdeads. Also a charater could first gain levels by doing quests inside a safe town that would go hostile if you attacked someone.

mabey if you are a pker people can place a bounty on you so a high level

That has little effect at all.

And UO, and DSL, and many MUDs and other games.

You know what happens in reality? Those bounties don't mean a thing because those who have bounties on them often travel in packs, and they are highly successful in PvP combat.

In addition, I would be very certain Som Guy has little to no experience with MMORPGs. Lying down while you're logged off? Sure, let's just invite PKs to go on a corpse fest where they find where people have logged off and take them out because MMORPG AI is relatively simplistic.
