Joker for the next batman movie revealed

I predict the new batman movie will suck ass. Instead of getting someone good for the role, they hired Heath Ledger apperently. While I guess there are worse choices, I just can't picture Heath Ledger as the joker without seeing him trying to lure Batman into a life of gay sex and crime and more gay sex. Brokeback Batman, here we come.

They should have hired Mark Hamill if you ask me.

Ledger is, by all means, a good actor -- you can't argue that. But goddamnit how in god's own hell could anyone figure that his FACE and his AGE would suit such a character? I mean, okay if movie was the original medium of Batman series, but it's NOT, hence it must be created in accord with the oriignal ocmics.

I'm thinking it's just a dumb rumor.

At this point I suppose it's limited to a rumor, but it's a rumor that alot of other pretty reputed circles are reporting.

Aside from Brokeback Mountain (and that's subjective as I didn't like it that much), what exactly good movie have you seen Heath Ledger in? cause I surely missed them.

All his movies sucked.

Shit, how can you go from Jack Nicholson to Heath Ledger?

Heresy.

If I had frittered away on concern, I'd hope for a Nicholson reprisal. Painfully, though, I don't. So, I'll just as soon laugh as sneer with my voice at those who weep and tear at hair, regardless of reason. It is tradition. :drunk:

I'm still rooting for Mark Hamill, if only because I loved the animated series as a kid.

have a bit of faith, jeez. what about the guy from dawsons creek in rules of attraction? or brad pitt in fight club? or the guy out of boy meets world in cabin fever? or david caruso in session 9? or sean connery in zardos? or john travolta in pulp fiction? etc.

I don't think they should make another batman with joker, the first one is not that old and Nicholson did a good job. Whether he was accurate to the comic version of TEH JOKER i dunno but it's kinda of an un needed remake. In the original batman they saw the creation of the joker and his death, so its not like your going to see a prequal of batman and jokers relationship unless the joker is just a regular guy.

Given that the core concept of the Joker is a guy who permanently wears heavy makeup, what the actor looks like isn't so crucial. The makeup/FX people will still manage to whip up an unsettlingly huge smile.

at the end of Batman Begins they said Joker was a psycho murderer who escaped from the asylum during the whole big event, and he's the leader of a band of crazies within the town.

So yeah.

The next Batman movie is going to rock. Heath Ledger is a really good actor and there is no doubt in my mind that he will make a great joker. Nobody is going to hire Heath Ledger unless they know he will fit into the role and more importantly the theme of the series.

I have not seen Brokeback Mountain, but I have had the misfortune of seeing some other Heath-films and how anyone, no matter how depraved his taste in movies is, can think that Heath is a "good" actor is way beyond any logic this world has to offer.

I hope for the sake of good taste (well, what is left of it), that picking Heath for the role of the Joker is a cruel prank from one of Internet's many rumourmills... the mere notion of Heath as the Joker is just as laughable as John Wayne doing the part. Hmm, John could probably pull it off, though... well, just as laughable as Bob Saget would be.

Batman is pretty dead anyway. But hey, we've had 3 good films, and a few seasons of those dark and gritty batman cartoons, so there's material to be rewatched in any case.
