“This role was written with Liam in mind, and provides the dramatic tone for the entire game, said Todd Howard, Executive Producer of Fallout 3. “Liam is absolutely amazing to work with.

Written with a nobody in mind? I don't give two fucks about his career. Unless someone can point me to some gaping hole in my memory he hasn't done anything memorable.

Also the whole overused "father-son" relationship plot device bores me.

ixnay on the slurs.

I'm not sure how I feel about Neeson cast as the father. I mean, it's supposed to be the United States, not Tamriel. Accents?

I liked Rob Roy and Big Lebowski, but what the fuck has a "father figure" got to do in Fallout? I wanted to kill the Overseer and the stupid Elder in FO2, at least the Overseer could be killed.

One probably can't even kill that bastard in that FOblivion travesty because he's an "important" plot figure. Ah, whatever, FO3 is going to be shit, anyway, why bother.

no slurs. thanks.

If the game relies on 'impotent' plot figiures that cant die, then you lack true choice, which means its not an RPG.

I'm guessing either the PC's on the hunt for his father (which is just a tiny bit cliched :| ), who also narrates various bits, or the father is dead and he narrates as the plot progresses. I hope it avoids the whole father/child cliche thing, it's been done to death in hollywood. But I could see, I dunno, maybe an overseer type figure having a child who is the PC.

An unkillable NPC would be very dodgy ground.

But as an actor, I like Liam Neeson. At least the VO will come from talented people. He must have cost a fair bit, though. Seems like Bethsoft are investing quite a bit of money into this part of the game.

What still concerns me is I'm not seeing much 'Fallout' yet. The concept arts are pretty, the music's decent, but neither of them say to me anything more than 'post apocalyptic'. I want to see something that says 'fallout' now.

Voice acting is over rated.

Minus pearlan.

Either way, a quest to rescue your father is better than a GECK quest.

there should also be a 'fuck that old codger' plot line.

I'm also a little concerned about the game being marketed on its voice overs (and, I'm guessing, next stage is the graphics). Those should be ancilliary to the game itself really.

Fuck anything but the text, gameplay, and ROLE PLAY ability.

ANYTHING else, even Pearlmen, is extra.

Still though....unless Neeson has an American accent, this is going to be weird.

Exactly.

The only 2 non american accents are the tribals (hopefully limited to FO2) and that theif in FO.
