Anyways, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to plant it on Gizmo using steal. I usually just use the tape recorder since it's easier.

You don't need to plant the bug. I always get Gizmo to hire me to whack Killian, that's always good enough for Killian. Next scene, we're back in Gizmo's office, giving him the works.
Planting the bug might grant some more experience, though...

Plant the bug using STEAL. It gives the same amount of XP. That is all. Nothing more to see.

i always plant the bug, because my chars always have the Steal tag skill (Stealing shit kicks ass!) and its free! heheh.
i dont know, i think i got like 300-400 exp for the bug. dont remember

All I did was enter the room and talk to Gizmo after Killian gave me the bug and WT. I didn't do anything except talk. It works. Is it some sort of bug?

I'm not sure. Do you need to equip the tape recorder in one of your hands in order to record the evidence?

The said items were not in my hands. I simply went straight to Gizmo after I got the WT&Bug.
