Bethesda Changes Law Firm

Post by POOPERSCOOPER »

<strong>[ Company -> Update ]</strong>

<p>I was going to say how "heh I guess Bethesda isn't doing so well?" but really they just changed law firms because the lead lawyer for the litigation moved to another firmas Ausir reports;</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><a title="Bethesda Softworks" href="http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bethesda_ ... ">Bethesda Softworks</a> has changed their law firm </em><em>again. Here's what the latest court filings say:</em></p>
<div style="padding-left: 30px;">
<div><em>&ldquo;</em></div>
<em><span>The Clerk will please withdraw effective February 1, 2011, the appearance of Jennifer Quinn-Barabanov, Rachel M. Hofstatter, Michael J. Allan and Steptoe & Johnson LLP as counsel for the Plaintiff/Counter-Defendant, Bethesda Softworks, LLC, in the above-referenced matter, in light of the appearance of <a title="wikipedia:Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fried,_Fra ... son">Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP</a>.</span></em>
<div><em>&rdquo;</em></div>
</div>
<div style="padding-left: 30px;">
<div><em>&ldquo;</em></div>
<em><span>PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that Dougls W. Baruch (MD Bar No. 12554) is entering his appearance as co-counsel for Plaintiff/Counter-Defendant Bethesda Softworks, LLC.</span></em>
<div><em>&rdquo;</em></div>
</div>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>This is the second time that Bethesda has changed law firms. A year ago, after the unsuccessful preliminary injunction, <a title="User blog:Ausir/Interplay wants their money back, Bethesda changes lawyers" href="http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog ... yers">they decided to fire</a> <a title="wikipedia:DLA Piper" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DLA_Piper">DLA Piper</a>, one of the world's biggest law firms, and hired a different, and somewhat smaller firm - <a title="wikipedia:Steptoe & Johnson LLP" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steptoe_%2 ... P">Steptoe & Johnson LLP</a>. <a title="wikipedia:Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fried,_Fra ... son">Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson</a> is of similar size to the latter. Meanwhile, Interplay continues to be represented by Jeffrey Gersh of the even smaller <a rel="nofollow" href="http://gershlegal.com/">Gersh Law Firm</a> since the beginning of the litigation.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Update</strong>: It turns out that Bethesda did </em><em>not really change their lawyers this time like they did a year ago. While they have changed the law firm, it is because their lead counsel on the case, Howard H. Stahl, previously of Steptoe & Johnson, has moved to Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. I apologize for the mistake.</em></p>
<p>Ausir messed up the news story.</p><p>Spotted @ <a href="http://fallout.wikia.com">The Vault</a></p>

Remove Ausir's news posting powers, this is unacceptable.

Well, they did and they didn't.

The lead lawyer stays the same but he has to bring up to speed all his new assistants.

Any lawyer who changes law firms in the midst of a case where he's lead, tells you how little he thinks of the case.

So they will have new lawyers but the point man remains the same.

Another fact is that the female lawyer who did most of the filings is no longer on the case.

It seems that this time, Bethesda was forced to accept a mostly new team in order to keep at least 1 lawyer on the case: The one who did the least leg work and possibly the one least familiar with the case.
