Circus cannons can be useful too - to launch ghouls over fortified positions in a siege situation. DIRTY BOMBS!!! (or tactical nukes..whichever way you like it)

Fire Support during Combat (or even non-combat situation)

It'll be fun if players can call in indirect fire from high track weapons (i.e. artillery) or air-strike (from Close Air Support fighters/bombers or Unmanned Aerial Combat Vehicle). For strategic solution, player can even call in orbital strikes from a rail gun or laser mounted on a low-orbit satell...

Agree - this thread ought to focus on the merits of having Suicide Bombers being instrumental to the fun in the next installment of Fallout.

There can be a bomb making minigame

Bomb making ought to be fun. learning how to build bigger and better IED with the least amount of explosive material, and positioning the package to obtain maximum effects (psychological and physical)

Seems that the American (and perhaps Jewish/Israeli) citizens are particularly touchy over the issue of suicide terrorism eh? bok bok bok... anyway - i agree suicide bombers are only part of the big picture - in fact, the tip of the iceberg. its a very rich narrative for drama and thought-...

but an action-rpg of counter-strike set after the apocalypse is a shit idea. hmmm. you failed to understand, esteemed Vault Dweller, that i mentioned that FPS such as counter-strikes is inadequate for the exploration of terrorism and counter-terrorism. but a strategy/rpg game like Fallout has all t...

Well I like the mindless violence, but Slave is right, the game is about character development, not playing Gaza Strip Frogger where you attempt to blow the cars up by running into them. What's the fun in that? The fun is in recruiting NPCs (including the double headed brahmins and other critters) ...

Slave_Master wrote:No, because the draw of Fallout is deep character customization and ethical and moral decisions, not mindless violence.
Thus, Fallout 3 may offer a good opportunity to explore the phenomena of suicide terrorism - which has been trivialised as an inexplicable enterprise of 'mad men'.

isn't it ironical when Fallout players moralize on the conduct of violence...? the topic of Suicide Bombers, perhaps, are not for players who fall under the "IMMATURE+" ESRB ratings. i think its relevant for the storywriters to tackle the theme of terrorism and 'martyrdom'...

There were no suicide bombers in the 50's/Retro/SCI-FI theme of FO1 or FO2... the art deco/retro design is but an artistic direction. if you noticed, there are many elements of contemporary culture that's spoofed in the game - i.e. scientologists, dan quayle (alright, not so modern), star trek etc ...

I think it'll be a challenge for the next Fallout series to incorporate terrorism and the 'clash of civilization' themes.

It'd be interesting to inject suicide bombers in random encounters. And breaking up a suicide operation as a main quest for the player characters.

I came across this article when i was conducting my research on suicide terrorism. Of course the one major problem with suicide bombers, well two. 1) You lose your people in the process 2) You are labeled a terrorist thus - the character with the Suicide Ops Perk coupled with his high charisma (and perhaps being a political/religious/apocalyptic cult leader) can recruit the bysta...

On the other hand, there can be a Suicide Operations Perk (for characters with high Charisma), he'll be able to recruit and influence NPCs (villagers, random townsfolk etc.) to become suicide operatives. Like Soldier87 mentioned, if he's able to cobble together some C4 or TNT and some complementary ...

hey, but it adds to the drama. a suicide bomber is a poor man's precision guided munition - aka smart bomb... thus, having an experienced suicide bomber with regenerative powers will be a challenge  The humorous aspect of Fallout and Wasteland is how it spoofs real life events. it ought to ...

Suicide Bombers

I think there ought to be such character types in the new game. (suicide bombers with regeneration perks, enhanced self-healing abilities etc.) perhaps, either the ghouls, mutants or humans might have formed suicide terrorist squads to exert their political identity and self-determination in the Was...
