I played 40k as Dark Angels, Eldar and Imperial Guard and had a few Necromunda gangs back in high school. Pretty much gave up the gaming aspect due to the people, but I've been painting some harlequins lately.

I'm actually writing (or supposed to be writing) a paper on Chinatown right at this very moment!
I can't say I dig The Bogart characters in movies like Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep. He's not very dimensional compared to neo-noir characters like JJ Gittes, Rick Deckard, and Lenny Shelby.

In Day of the Dead there wasn't any serious asskicking until the last twenty minutes of the film. The story was a classic scientist vs. the military...

Arcanum indeed. It pretty much defines the genre.

I too get incredibly sick of the new shit. my solution. just run a search for a genre and you'll find all sorts of abandonware classics.
