Or possibly a fair comment. Go read a few of their threads, and tell me BG isn't featured highly in most of them and that the same old comments aren't always being made. I'll admit I wasn't feeling kindly disposed towards S_P or Rosh when I made that comment, but then neither would you have been. An...

I think Deathy's comments are not really fair, and DU's chat on IRC isn't really reflecting the true situation. Since Deathy (and others) have presented their very blurred view of what happened, I will present mine. Here are the actual facts of the situation, stated as briefly as I can: I existed on...

I would be interested in reading the article, Jimmyjay but I won't be able to do that unless someone C&Ps it here for me. It would certainly be nice to see someone trying to do a good job of covering a subject objectively, rather than just using it as a vehicle for a personal agenda. Congratualt...

I don't want to drag DAC in RPGCodex's problems, so lets not discuss it here. I don't like flaming or any other kind of useless strife. Anyone who reads my posts can judge for themselves what type of person I am.

I've not read the article (for reasons about 7 or 8 people here are aware of) but I would like to comment on the general debate. I don't see why some people are so partisan. Neither TB or RT are inherently better for RPGs. Both offer different things, which affects their suitability to a given game....

Fallout was a great game to play, but it's not really true to say it relied on hardcore CRPG to please its fans. It did its own share of pandering. Without taking anything away from recognition of its excellent game system, there's no doubt that it played to the juvenile side of its audience: overbl...

That certificate wasn't there earlier today. I wonder why someone has put it there? Maybe the hosts are going through some changes.

T-A is down too, so maybe they're on the same host. Calis is generally very good about giving warning of host changes, etc, so I'm not sure how likely it is that it is a planned host move.

Maybe it's just some Gamesquad problem.

Being able to read narration and NPC dialogue probably has a small impact on sales, yes.

I'm not sure I like the new interface. It just doesn't say, "16th Century" to me. I would have liked a stone interface with murals, similar to those found in the Renaissance time period. For example: http://www.kfki.hu/keptar/tours/11_16_c5.html I think the pictures on that page sum up wh...

and besides I had some hopes about NWN and the mods So did I. I still do. I would like NWN to be used for any D&D CRPGs created in the future. Bioware can license it to anyone wanting to do a commercial module. Those people can then implement their module, with any new models or tilesets requir...

S_P, do you actually play these games? I am starting to suspect you do. During our discussions of NWN, PoRII and now this, you seem too well-informed to not have been through them a fair distance. I only ask, because I haven't played IWD or IWDII and actually really only played 1.5 BG games before I...

Makes me glad God gave me sub-standard eyeballs. I can't remember the last time I saw graphics for a professional game and thought they were shit. I think I'm still impressed by any kind of decent graphics, because out of the (however many) years I've been playing computer games, the majority of it ...

That was an interesting interview, DJS . I thought you chose some good questions. Tim Cain seems like a nice guy, doesn't he? I have a follow-up question for people who know about all this stuff. Where does GURPS fit in? Tim mentioned he worked hard to get the GURPS license. Is SPECIAL derived from ...

Well, I'm not a Lionheart fanboy - I'm not even sure I'll buy the game, the way it's shaping up - but I don't like dark games. I think darkness being equated with atmosphere is a mistake made by film directors and games creators who can't come up with a more original way of creating a distinctive mi...

It couldn't be much worse than the usual shit in fantasy MMORPGs, like all 3,000 variants of Drizzt Do'Urden, 90,000 variants of Gandalf/Raistlin/Merlin/Fizban/(insert wizard here), or even the occasional "TomCruise6969". In what game did you use that last alias? There IS a k...
