I can't disagree with any of that; however;

Shops exist throghout the game selling armor, weapons... tutors will be around to teach skills... there is no reason that improving your stats and abilities and buying up weapons and armor should be limited to the player character.

The idea of levelled lists is not in and of itself awful, it just needs to be implemented so that things are factored up with each level rather then being factored TO the player. Say, in Fallout 2, when your team is three deep in power armor with Pancor Jackhammers and Guas rifles, a band of raiders...

From when I saw the first trailers I always thought it was just going to be a poor version of Training Day.
