Chernobyl Photo Archive - Ten Years Later
<strong>[ -> N/A]</strong>
<html><body><P>I thought this was pretty cool when I first saw it. It's a good-sized photo archive of Chernobyl, specifically the abandoned city of Pripyat ten years after the power plant catastrophe. The place looks frozen in time.</P><blockquote><center><A HREF=http://archive.greenpeace.org/~comms/nu ... cher01.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://www.duckandcover.net/madmaxrw/pripyat1a.jpg></A> <A HREF=http://archive.greenpeace.org/~comms/pics/0119.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://www.duckandcover.net/madmaxrw/pr ... ote><P>You can get a feel for what the game <A HREF="http://www.stalker-game.com/" target=_blank>S.T.A.L.K.E.R.</A> is all about. Didn't like those pictures of those kids who were obviously pretty ill. Hopefully they were taken around the time of the disaster and everyone's put some distance between themselves and Chernobyl since then. Place must glow in the dark.
The landscape photos definitely hit the 'Fallout' button though.

I just want to say two things:
- The pictures were taken 10 years after the disaster
- There are still people living there. People that can't move because they have nowhere else to go. They are ill and only own a little house (that's the only thing they truly own, the ground for agriculture is owned by Russia, a remnant of communism). Between dying in their house or on the roads...
All Your Base Are Belong To Us
these pictures are definetly fallout ;-)
i've seen a documentary movie about chernobil for a few months and it was really shocking. they brought a child , who grew up there and never left the village, to Budapest and showed her as much as possible. You should have seen the eyes of the girl when she saw things like an elevator, new funny toys, dolls and such
brrr
it's a shame that a lot of people(not a few, oh no) are living there in total isolation waiting to die (yes this kid was ill to - some kind of cancer)

It' really looks insane there with the sun shining. Doomed, decayed, soulless, yet it looks like a normal low social and wealth neighbourhood pretty much alive. Except for the neglected roads and gardens this could be a city in france or something.
Hope they will include neighbourhood's like this in Stalker and or Fallout games...
