Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

And the best against robots is the MEC gauss minigun but you can get it only in the 18th mission. Have good robot hunting!
the M79 simply suxs against bots..............
and slugs rounds do preety fine against bots as well.

Yes, the granade launcher is not the best weapon, but it is not bad. Sometimes i hit robots for 50-60 point, sometimes i hit robots about 10 points. I used it because Jo was in my group and i had to give her a gun and the g.l. was better than the gauss pistol...

well you need those 2mmECs anyway for the really big gun.
Yes, the Mec gauss minigun is coool! But it uses too much ammo.
if you have being saving those little balls of pain to the final campaign, you can have easily close to 600. And 600 is more than sufficient for 1 guy to solo the entire Calculator's Lair.

short but fun....
;)
I had more than 600 ammo when i was in vault 0. How could i do it? hmmm.
What you need to fight against robots armed with energy guns and not lose ammo is fast and efficient deathclaw :D .
Haveing silent running perk, sneak skill on 90 - 100% and agility on 10 it's fast enough to disable any chars with short shot sprites. Bots armed with riffles can be easly defeated this way (don't try with ones with miniguns). Aiming in eyes, it's more than certain the victim will lose it's countiousness several times before you eventually kill it.
Heh, once using Kldrav i sliced a behemoth, but don't ask me how much time it took.

I would just ambush those suckers with EMP nades. Have Clarise just pop out and throw a couple of those nades downrange.
Gatling Laser and Laser Rifle is the best combination you can get, Gatling laser allows for heavy damage, pair that with Fast Shot and Bonus ROF, and the Laser Rifle allows for nice range and armor penetration. The Pulse Rifle is amazing though, i had 3 of those plus the prototype by the end of the game i believe. I know you can buy 1 from the quarter master, 1 from that elite squad in Vault 0 (forgot their name), and 1 in a locker. Course I just had 3 people with the Gatling Lasers doing all the dirty work >:)
I think Ridick performs briliantly - he already have the silent death perk at level 8, and armed with a cattle prod on overload he can kill any of the humaniod robot sentries in 1 blow - even if if he fails he'll still have enough AP for another blow, ensuring death (dismantle).
first time i met one, i had to have everyone in my squad aim for a part on it (2 for the head, 2 for the left tracks, and 2 for the right tracks) so then i basicly crippled and knocked it out, still, i sucked and it took a while to kill after that.
i used a similar tactic on bahemoths, but 1 or 2 people would have heavy weapons (gatling laser/browing) to deal damage while the others kept it subdued.

I just beaten a Tankbot with my main guy in APA using unarmed.
Or.... if your feeling brave enough, you could arm your whole squad with Plasma and laser pistols, they dont do much damage alone, but in groups i found them to be lethal!! also use them as a secondary weapon if you wanna go off Bot hunting with one NPC. take along a large cal gun or an energy rifle.
the acid-loaded super soaker works wonders actually... and it's FUN! I reckon a cattle prod would be good too if you were willing to get up close and personal with the robot.
ah stop complainin' about them machines, bots ain't that hard as long as you have a tactical sense. pffft.
