"Sorry about the weak sound effects!"

Post by Kreegle »

[ -> N/A]

Vic DeLeon has posted a messsage over at the Blues News forums that they're going to address the crappy-sounding pops and bangs you might have heard in the <a href="http://www.duckandcover.net/forums/view ... evastation demo:
The majority has spoken. Apparently this was a legitimate enough gripe and we will comply like the good developers we are trying to be. Most of the weapon sounds will be given an overhaul, with more bass, and pitch adjustments. I cannot promise anything but these changes should be in the full patch.
Yay! It would've been better if the changes were packed in to the retail release, but oh well. Spotted at Blues News, obviously.

Well. That should make a certain board member who enjoys sticking pens (I SAID PENS!) up his nose.

They're working on some big patch that will fix audio and netcode problems, physics, a new server menu and other stuff. It's supposed to be out a few days after the full game is released. Having to patch a game before it's even in stores is a huge slap in the face, but I'm willing to give them a chance because the dev team is cool. They don't have to listen to our problems.

Most any game you can name gets patched between when it goes gold and when it hits shelved. Even Blizzard, who are notorious for squashing every bug before gold, releases a patch befreo their games hit shelves.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

That's why I hardly ever buy games anymore.

Eh, why? Just because they find one or two bugs they missed and quickly fix them before you get your hands on the game? Somehow that doesn't strike me as a good argument not to buy games.

One or two little bugs doesn't bother me. It's significant things like netcode or unneccesary framerate drops. Besides, release now patch later is a very small part of the reason why I rarely buy games.

That netcode problem and framerate drops are specific to Devastation. I can fully endorse not buying Devastation, but when they find minor stuff and fix it before people even get to play, that's a-ok by me.

Red, nobody's game is 100% perfect, but you have to admit Blizzard takes the time to polish the hell out of their games and make them as bug-free as they can.

The only thing I give Blizzard credit for is their amazing graphic artists and their ability to make bugs in games which people can make profit over on eBay.

Otherwise if you want something close to bugless, look at platform games... There's no choice but to have a single release (though this might become less true as internet connectivity (and thus patches) are implimented in consoles...

I can understand machine->game specific bugs but not gameplay bugs, and I also understand why there are more bugs in computer games, but it doesn't make the bugs excusable.

hey watch it mister, before come cram a pen up your nose.

i'm glad to hear they gonna sort this out cuz this game has very much potential if you ask me. now let's hope for a decent storyline in the singleplayer mode and i'm a happy guy.
