Fallout Melee and Unarmed, cool? Or a waste of time?
Fallout Melee and Unarmed, cool? Or a waste of time?
I'm replaying part 2 with Unarmed and melee without even touching any other weapon skills and quite frankly, it's not turning out to be such a shiny jewel I thought it would be...
The only really good part about it is that the game is a little harder then. You are a little handicaped by range, plus I recommend setting the game difficulty and combat to hard.
The really shit part about it is when you get a good critical (70+ hp) and having to wait while the body of your opponent slides all the way across the screen until it hits a wall. Gets kinda boring after a while. Another thing is that I'm missing all the exiting ways enemies can die.
Anyone else played as a melee fighter?

That has got to hurt
i think its better to go unarmed, you get better attacks, and you can use your skills to own in 2 quests (boxer/sanfran)
also, im pretty sure you can get the silent death perk, use sneak in combat, run around the back of your opponent and break his/her spine through their chest (instant death, regardless of damage)
and its really funny cause when you look at their corpse it says something like: "this person is dead, their spine is clearly visible from the front"
so, thats a bonus to unarmed. and plus you can get your attacks all the way down to using like 2 ap a punch.
just gotta get lotsa str/endurence, you need those HP's to get close enough to punch.
and plus, its fun to break peoples legs and watch them move like 2 hexes when they are attempting to run from you. heheh

It's harder than ranged for various reasons. Being burst at point blank isn't pleasant. It's still doable though. Unarmed is mostly better than melee. There are less unarmed weapons, and it's a cosmic leap from the spiked knuckles to the power fist, but the mega power fist is better than any melee weapon. It does more damage straight off, has the regulation Unarmed AP bonus, and as with all Unarmed weapons, it doesn't cause knockback, which is very annoying for a melee character.
Yeah, I just got the mega power fist and starting to enjoy the loss of knockback. It's a pity that there aren't many unarmed/melee weapons in general.
Also, Sulik doesn't feel like using the power fist, stupid dumbass settles for the ripper which is great but with the mega power fist he would kick ass even more.
