Nah, with laser based weapons you can cut of the head (Jules makes a slicing motion with his hand "svuuush")

I can't remember with the plama guns - but basicly when scoring a critical on a near-death target usually result in the target being sliced in half (or some other bodypart being sliced of)

Yeha but if I remember correctly melting people makes them drop items which is damn annoying... A too bad too as I like the melting animations :P

Do floaters even eat what they attack? They could be herbivores for all we know. I'd always thought their attack was some kind of "implantation" which is backed up by the ovipositor, which is an organ that deposits eggs.

is it a tongue? or is it a fountain of red stuff? iirc, it retracts after "shooting"
but it does poison you sometimes

I think its like a frog tongue, If you read the Richard grey audio logs it describes something similar.
I think I consumed one of the mutated things scurrying around here today. Before I knew what was happening, some sort of tendril had sprung from my stomach and covered the poor creature.
Ok so its a tendril of some sort, I think it might be sticky or have spikes to hold the victim. The poison might be some kind of corrodive saliva that it meant to immbilise prey.

Like I wrote before, a friend of mine commented that worms digest their food kinda like how flies do it; Puke on it, melt it, eat it.

I suggest that this is no diffrent, the floaters spits some corrosive substance on the victim, victim melts, floater sips the fluids while, maybe, using those teeth, too.

The sound the floater produce when it attacks also sounds more like a "spit" sound and less like a " tongue whip" sound.

Therefor, I DE RIGHT AND YUOS THERE RWONG.

with small rock like things, similar to how birds eat stones now and then to aid in digestion. it uses its muscular stomach to move the stones around w/the dirt to grind it up, whilst secreting stuff on it to aid in digestion.

eh, i guess it does sortof "puke" on its food, but its done internally

Anyways, back to the discussion. Floaters!

Weapons: Plasma weapons melt things with their inventory still "on" the pile of goo like on a normal body, explosives turn theminto body-parts with their inventory spread all around and the laser-weapoins cut things up. However, on floaters, both laser-weapons and plasma and pulse all do the same thing: make them "puff" up and turn into the crabon Red was talking about.

Never, ever had that happen- and I use the laser-rifle a lot for the close-encounters up there...

plasma makes them turn into a burnt up version of the origional, laser cuts 'em in half.

does the alien blaster act like plasma? or does it act like electrical/pulse?
iirc, pulse/electric death scene with the floater is:
it cooks it, like plasma, but when it hits the ground it burns up, into nothing. so all thats left is some ashes, nothing that resembles a floater.
