THQ To Publish S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Post by Mad Max RW »

<strong>[ -> N/A]</strong>

<html><body><P>It looks like the guys at GSC Game World finally signed on with THQ to publish the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost. This is great news if you&#8217;re even the least bit interested in the game. Here&#8217;s a bit from today&#8217;s <A HREF=http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/030507/75337_1.html target=_blank>press release</A>:</P><blockquote><em>CALABASAS HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 2003--THQ® Inc. today announced it has acquired the worldwide publishing rights to the highly anticipated "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" (working title). Developed exclusively for PC by Ukraine-based GSC Game World, "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" is the first game to utilize GSC Game World's proprietary X-Ray engine that allows for massive indoor/outdoor environments, real-time physics and the capability to push more than one million polygons per frame at 60 frames per second. "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" provides players with an intense first person action experience that incorporates elements of survival horror and role-playing while taking place in the forbidden zone of the Chernobyl nuclear facility. "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost" will be available in 2004.</em></blockquote><P>Sounds as if they aren&#8217;t going to make it for the previously estimated 4th Quarter 2003. As long as they get it right that&#8217;s all that matters.</P></body></html>

This is indeed very good. I do hope THQ doesn't do a console port or anything.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Sadly an engine "able to pull 1mil polies/frame" has nothing to do with the engine's code anymore but rather with the horsepower running the game... This means you'll need whatever's the latest hardware when the game's released, though obviously they'll unclude lower detail levels for those who can't dish out the power.

I also wonder when that'll mean they'll reach the stores in Canada.

You mean GeForce2 won't cut it? But it's the 1337 Pro Edition!

in order to experience agreeable performance, as far as I know, you will need at least a GF3, plus, I guess, 256MB RAM and an Athlon XP (or P4 if u prefer)

By the way, you may want to take a look at this: http://dom.techland.pl/ if you haven't seen it before on DAC or wherever else.

Day of the Mutants was posted over a year ago. It still hasn't been updated.

I'm sorry, but a gf4 can't handle "millions of polies per frame at 60fps".

Unless when they're talking about the millions of polies, they're also talking about the clipped polies (which I've seen before, ugh).
