Alex Garland On 28 Days Later

Post by Mad Max RW »

[ -> N/A]

Writer Alex Garland had a chance to sit down with <A HREF=http://scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.htm ... 12.30.film target=_blank>Sci Fi to discuss the UK based film 28 Days Later. He briefly talks about his inspiration from British literature, post apocalyptic movies, and the genre’s parallel with real life events of the time.

"There's always been something about post-apocalyptic story that I got a big kick out of," Garland said. "Britain at the time was ... very paranoid. It was this paranoid island, and it's more paranoid now. But two and a half years ago, when I started working, it was still paranoid back then. And the thing about the books and films I was just talking about was that I think they were responsive to paranoid times as well."

28 Days Later is set to open June 27 in select US cities.

The movie looks cool, but I hear the last 30 minutes is terrible.

Well I'm thinking it's coming to my theather. It's trailer is on almost all the movies we have and we do get the specialty movies.

I'll be seeing it for free if it does, as I work there. Oh yeah, I'm seeing the Matrix for free and a day early as well.
