Oh good...I'm already getting the "plant/dl" bashing. I see you don't limit your bashing to other websites.
I'll tell you: I completely agree that limiting free speech on their website is wrong. It is their website, but constructive criticism is always important.
However, what a lot of you and others did on their webpage was ludicrous. There were threats, there were personal attacks on these people and people who supported them. GET OVER IT: ITS A VIDEO GAME. If you don't like it, say you don't, but don't insult or attack another person. That's not just stupid, its childish.

Catch-phrase of the day: Bashing!Finch wrote:Oh good...I'm already getting the "plant/dl" bashing. I see you don't limit your bashing to other websites.
It's not free speech if it's on a company message board.I'll tell you: I completely agree that limiting free speech on their website is wrong. It is their website, but constructive criticism is always important.
They're pretty much knowing that people at E3 could take a look at their forums at this mess and see how it is blowing up.
Wake the fuck up. It has been pointed out to you that they pretty much started it with the lies. It's also not too hard to expect people to flame the occasional idiot that uses hollow supposition of "give it a chance!" when every indication is that it's poor and nothing the devs do proves otherwise. However, what a lot of you and others did on their webpage was ludicrous. Then there's also the point that the mods also deleted a good number of rational threads that hit too close to home.
Or, we could point out that it is not just us, that it was from a WIDE number of places and people that were pissed off at the poor design.
Wait, that was already explained, and you just regurgitated your previous reply whilst not really reading any replies in turn.
Neither do people who get bought to shut up and/or spin and then try to lie back to the community repeatedly. I'm not arrogant, I'm brutal. Arrogance in a nutshell is using hollow supposition as an argument in face of material the devs have said and shown. Arrogance could also be said to be the pride displayed by Elara once she saw that she was fed a line, but hey, she's now in with Chuck or whatever and she's never regretted or gone back from a sell-out yet.atoga wrote:Though I agree arrogant people like Rosh don't make the Fallout community look very good.

Yeah but its a video game with a story, A LIFE, A MEANING, A SETTING, ITS A WORLD, OUR WORLD AND Interplay keeps taking that away from us.GET OVER IT: ITS A VIDEO GAME. If you don't like it, say you don't, but don't insult or attack another person. That's not just stupid, its childish.

Because you are, you dumb fucking priss, and most likely Elara, at that. Maybe you shouldn't quote her majestic, enlightened "opinion" word for word.Finch wrote:Oh good...I'm already getting the "plant/dl" bashing.
HEY THERE CHUMS I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU IN EVERY WAY, BUT LET ME JUST SAY ONE THING... Fuck your shoddy manipulation tactics with a hammer.Finch wrote: I'll tell you: I completely agree that limiting free speech on their website is wrong. No matter how many times, moron, you imply it's the consumer's fault instead of the providers of the product for making it in a way that spurs bad reaction, it's still going to be both massively retarded, factually wrong, and actually ludicrous.Finch wrote: However, what a lot of you and others did on their webpage was ludicrous.
Cunt, under your scenario, Interplay would have done things badly enough to encourage threats and personal attacks over JUST A VIDEO GAME, it would still be their fault. More inconveniently, though, those threats and attacks were wholly non-existant the first time you wept about them, so let me give you a basis; stupid bitch.Finch wrote: There were threats, there were personal attacks on these people and people who supported them. Its nice to see Interplay taking an active interest in trying to silence off-site public reaction because they're sweating buckets elsewhere via their lackeys who work for them out of nothing but personal vendetta agaisn't that public, and I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but they can shove it up their ass and choke to death. Likewise, as instrumental in their plans, you can eat fuck.

Everything 388 just said will be used as an example of how "harsh" the Fallout fans are. "dumb fucking priss", "cunt", "stupid bitch" and other comments will only help Interplay's argument.
If you want to be taken seriously you have to think like them. Fallout is just a game. To us it is much more, but the folks at Interplay will never see that.

I see you aren't limiting yourself to not egging on the bashing. This is almost on par with painting a target on your shirt then running across a driving range screaming, GOLF SUCKS!Finch wrote:Oh good...I'm already getting the "plant/dl" bashing. Did you know that the Interplay executives are wanting people like Azael banned from the forum? Let me give you a little history on Azael. He was the moderator of the Fallout forums and several other forums there until Fallout Enforcer was announced. He disagreed with the product and stepped down because of it. He's been nothing but civil on there, and he's on Interplay's BIG HIT LIST now. He was good enough to moderate their forums for years, but now that he disagrees with something, he's ban-worthy.I'll tell you: I completely agree that limiting free speech on their website is wrong. It is their website, but constructive criticism is always important.
That's the type of thing we're talking about.
Like what? I wrote big, long, mostly sensible posts about why sales of Fallout Enforcer won't lead to Fallout 3. I wrote big, long winded replies to things about why are they making a game that's not for Fallout fans but uses the Fallout license. However, what a lot of you and others did on their webpage was ludicrous. There were threats, there were personal attacks on these people and people who supported them.
You know what? They banned me "for my avatar" and deleted those big, 4-12 paragraph monsters I churned out. That's the ludicrious part.
Right now, they're moving on to targets they can't even come up with flimsy excuses for, like Azael.
However, I think the key point is that why waste the time writing long and sensible posts all the time when they're just going to delete those but leave the one-liners alone? It boils down to stimulous and response. The stimulous is that you've just had about twenty minutes worth of sensible writing deleted, the response is you're going to be less constructive next time and you're going to be even more pissed off because you want to be reasonable, but they certainly don't allow that, do they?
You really should analyse things like this before you say them, especially on a forum about video games. It's just too easy to retort with GET OVER IT: IT'S A VIDEO GAMING SITE.GET OVER IT: ITS A VIDEO GAME.
Too easy to point out the irony here, but I will anyway. If you don't like it, say you don't, but don't insult or attack another person. That's not just stupid, its childish.

You know, the problem isn't just the bashing of F:BOS. It's the fucking rudeness. If I sit here and say that you're all a bunch of "asshats who can only see things your way", then I'm flaming, I'm biased, and of course, I suddenly have no reason to complain if you attack me back.
On the other hand, if some posters on this board say I'm "screwing Chuck or I got a sextoy for my participation" that's somehow justified to you people. And if someone says you're fucked up for saying that, then we're being unreasonable.
If someone decides that they might like this game, then they're obviously a fanboy idiot. EVERYONE who liked Fallout Tactics must be a fanboy idiot because it broke canon and didn't keep the right feel. Thus, everyone who likes FOBOS must be the same for the same reasons.
Unfortunately, while you can feel that all you want to it isn't going to change the facts of the matter: Interplay is selling this title to the console market which isn't much of a fucking overlap for the PC RPG market. When the game comes out, do you REALLY think a lot of kids are gonna stop to search the boards? No. They MIGHT go to Interplay's forums , MAYBE..but they won't come here right away. All the bad press about FOT didn't stop them from achieving the largest number of pre-orders but it DID kill off a lot of any further purchases....
You think a company as cash-strapped as Interplay really wants that? Do you think they give a FUCK about 'whoring' the name? Do you think they care about what a bunch of people like you think? There's what....1200 or so users registered here? Maybe another 500 at DAC.
Let's add in another thousand who just lurk for generosity's sake. Hell, let's call it 3000. Fucking RLH sold more than that, you really think you people matter much? They didn't shut down the F:BOS forum just because they didn't want bashing...they shut it down because you were bashing the devs, the mods who locked crap topics, the company itself. On your boards you call people whatever the hell you like but when they insult you they're unprofessional?
As for me, it really doesn't matter, does it? If you people really think I'm that shallow as to change how I feel over a fucking graphics tag (Oh, I'm rich now, baby!) then none of your opinions really matter, and I'm just posting for the people who frequent this board but might not agree with you.
The only thing funny here is this bit:
Why is it that hysterical theatrics you people pull are always so justified, but anyone who opposes you is always an idiot or attention-whoring?At the bottom line, Shodan is pretty much attention-whoring for the drama.
Oh, and 388 is as eloquent and cultured as always. You should really read his post to figure out why this community isn't even taken half-assed seriously. For every post Saint P makes you have juviline bitching from some kid who's pissed a company doesn't agree with his idea for the future.
Hey! Here's an idea. You people are so smart...take this Project Phoenix of yours and see if you can make it and sell more copies than F:BOS does. Show us how much you know and why anyone should bother listening to you. Because after reading a lot of the posts on this board, I'm not even mad at you anymore....just amused you people make this your life.
"We happen to like Fallout, just not the Fallout community. They don't know how to think on their own, have double-standards, and basically bash anyone or anything that isn't Them. Internet people trying to desperately to be cool and failing, basically."
Y'know, the trend is getting worse and worse.
First, they banned the most strident voices of the community from their forums. However, at the same time they tried to appeal/appease the fans with their "Show Elara the documents" plan and their Q&A plan.
Then they closed down the forums, changed the Q&A plan to a modded FAQ. The Elara plan just kind of made everyone take an 'either/or' stance, so that wasn't good.
And now, no FOBOS talk at all.
What's next? Are they just going to take all information about the game off all websites in order to not get any negative press and feedback?

Just to quickly clarify, the only person here making phoenix is EvoG who you might note has nothing to do with IPLY, FOBOS or any of the current conflicts. Though I'm sure he appreciates news of his project getting around. See, we're supporting a game that's immersive and being developed by people who still have passion for gaming. Not mindless license milking bastards who wouldn't know quality if it hit them upside the head. K THX BYE.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

The bad press came mostly AFTER the game was shipped, not before, and said bad press only came from fan sites, not from PC magazines which in effect were supporting the license for two reasons: They like to be liked by IPLY and everyone loved Fallout. This in turn generated "largest number of pre-orders" explicitly because the Fallout name was slapped on it. If it was "such an amazing game" on it<s own, it's REAL sales would have been better then BG et al.Elara wrote:All the bad press about FOT didn't stop them from achieving the largest number of pre-orders but it DID kill off a lot of any further purchases....
Effectivly you're saying making crappy games with anything's OK if you're out of cash. Sure that's fine. But I don't think it's wrong pointing out that we DON'T want crap and we WON'T be buying it before or after it comes out. And since we so dearly love this license, why not choose another fucking license along the way.You think a company as cash-strapped as Interplay really wants that? Do you think they give a FUCK about 'whoring' the name? Do you think they care about what a bunch of people like you think? There's what....1200 or so users registered here? Maybe another 500 at DAC.
Of course seeing how FO:T pre-sales went so well, they think it'll work the same with another Fallout title. Well, they might be right, but I highly doubt that.

Elara, cut the bullshit. You've been known for your shit tricks for quite some time. You're just known as someone who talks out both sides of her ass.Elara wrote: You know, the problem isn't just the bashing of F:BOS. It's the fucking rudeness. Argument by hyperbole, and quite wrong. If someone decides that they might like this game, then they're obviously a fanboy idiot. EVERYONE who liked Fallout Tactics must be a fanboy idiot because it broke canon and didn't keep the right feel. Thus, everyone who likes FOBOS must be the same for the same reasons.
It has been said before, if you like FOT, fine. Just don't try to say it's really in the Fallout setting, a good representation, or the best squad-based tactical game around as that is highly debatable.
I'm surprised that you could be dumb enough to try that shit when you've even made that defense in the past. Want to try "You don't like it because it's not an RPG!!!!11!!" like Kerrang next?
Which you don't factor in that the craftsmanship and sales of Interplay's recent console titles are poor, sell poorly, and are overshadowed by many other titles. That is mainly because there's crap effort and poor design put into them. Then word of mouth goes around and does its job even further.Unfortunately, while you can feel that all you want to it isn't going to change the facts of the matter: Interplay is selling this title to the console market which isn't much of a fucking overlap for the PC RPG market.
It's called a search engine. When the game comes out, do you REALLY think a lot of kids are gonna stop to search the boards? No. They MIGHT go to Interplay's forums , MAYBE..but they won't come here right away.
Not just bad press, but it was also word of mouth over a good many sites that did it in, plus user review sites like PCGR.com.All the bad press about FOT didn't stop them from achieving the largest number of pre-orders but it DID kill off a lot of any further purchases....
When it comes to Fallout, we're pretty much at the top of the search engines. As for another glaring point of your idiocy, it doesn't matter how many are registered on the forums. There's many more that read the news on the main page.
Then there's also a number that follow other sites, not just the core Fallout fansites, who are noticably upset at this as well. Bringing up RLH's pathetic sales is an empty point because it illustrates nothing more than a few impulse buys on a shoddy title. It might have some relevence in pointing out the probable number of sales of this title, given that the bad press is going into major publications and console sites.
Your point above was so lame, I didn't have to shoot it. I just had to because I hate seeing things in misery.
Not just us, but nearly everyone who saw the trailer, which was a lot more than just those who follow the fansites. They didn't shut down the F:BOS forum just because they didn't want bashing...they shut it down because you were bashing the devs, the mods who locked crap topics, the company itself. On your boards you call people whatever the hell you like but when they insult you they're unprofessional?
On the topic of "locked crap topics", perhaps you can spin your way out of how they made some posts "vanish" for no reason.
Too bad those threads just conveniently left so now you can play your drama, eh?As for me, it really doesn't matter, does it? If you people really think I'm that shallow as to change how I feel over a fucking graphics tag
How about the "hide the posts" game that Interplay plays, including the eloquent posts? It really suits you to have brain damage enough to try and forget them and think the community has no real gripe. The point where the hostility really came about was when they turrned to playing those shit tricks. You also seem to change your tune every time it suits you. Remember what you did the first time you went onto the F:POS board? Now you're going to be as two-faced as ever, congratulations. The only thing funny here is this bit:
Why is it that hysterical theatrics you people pull are always so justified, but anyone who opposes you is always an idiot or attention-whoring?At the bottom line, Shodan is pretty much attention-whoring for the drama.
Oh, speaking of idiocy, let's go onto a good example of such:
Elara, you stupid twit, Project Phoenix* is a project led by EvoG but the board is hosted here. It's not a project of DAC.Hey! Here's an idea. You people are so smart...take this Project Phoenix of yours and see if you can make it and sell more copies than F:BOS does. Show us how much you know and why anyone should bother listening to you.
