Are we really, I mean really 100% sure that Van Buren IS Fallout 3?
On a side note, look at this http://forums.interplay.com/viewtopic.p ... sc&start=0
There are really hordes of idiots who would like another D&D shit more than Fo3. I'm a bit amazed, the bastards don't know what they're talking about + there's lots of them.

Hordes of idiots.. As seen here:

The above is a request for medieval weapons in Fallout 3. One guy comes close to getting things by bringing up a vibroblade, but fails to know that's what a Ripper is. Go figure.

Here's a request for Ninjas in Fallout 3. I don't think I even have to point out how lame and out of place that one really is.
http://forums.interplay.com/viewtopic.php?t=21727
Here's a thread about music in Fallout 3. I once stated on Vault13.net that the What type of music should be in Fallout 3 question is probably the easiest and best question to use to find people who don't have any clue about the setting. It flushes them out better than anything.

You are perfectly aware of who 6'8" Trollord is and why the ninjas request was not a real one. In fact, most of the posts in that thread are sarcastic.
The music thread is also a parody.
As for the "primitive" weapons, if there are spears in the game why shouldn't there be bows? I mean, from a purely practical tribal hunting perspective, I'd prefer a bow to a spear. Then again, I know some of you can't stand the fact that there are tribals in the FO world, so I'll leave it at that.
BTW, S_P, all those threads were made in conjunction with FO3. Which, if anything, indicates that the remaining FO3 fans at IPLY are "hordes of idiots," not Jefferson fans.
EDIT: that last sentence doesn't sound like I wanted it to sound. I don't think any group of people can be labeled "hordes of idiots," regardless of what I think of their opinion.

Lets put it this way Zbyram, we know shit about what kind of game Fallout 3 will be but there has been numeros of hints dropped about that Jefferson game, and from what little I read about it, it didn’t sound like just another shitty dnd game..
It is hard to be exited about something you know nothing of how it will turn out, for all we know at this moment is that, Van Buren (if it is Fallout 3) may just be another shitty game with the Fallout label.
Wait until we have some info about it before getting your hopes up..
And a side note:
Saint, are you surprised about those threads? Don’t you remember all those Mad Car Wars/giant space station- threads over at the old Bis Forum?

Well, not exactly... BIS hasn't made a shitty Fallout game so far. FOT and FOBOS are/were made by other people. IF they start working on Fo3 I think it's pretty safe to say they'll work their asses off to make it the right way. But that's not the problem right now, right now we want Van Buren to be Fo3.Vergilius wrote:Van Buren (if it is Fallout 3) may just be another shitty game with the Fallout label.
It's quite simple. Try making a spear. You can do it out of nearly ANYTHING. Hell, find a metal pole and file a point on it. A wooden one could be made out of some scrap wood, but I wouldn't trust some of the trees as they look sickly, but the tribals managed to make some.Sammael wrote: As for the "primitive" weapons, if there are spears in the game why shouldn't there be bows? Then try to make a bow from a sickly tree. It's hard enough and time-consuming enough to make one from good materials, but to find good enough supplies to make a bow, it would take much longer. You also need to find the right kind of wood, you just can't use just any tree or some scrap lumber.
For the tribal's way of life, a bow is pretty useless for the amount of work required. It's nearly useless against someone with a gun, and to hunt geckos, a spear will do.
Now for the protagonist's view. You're going to do all that kind of work when there's guns and bullets still around, and a spear is much easier to use? A crossbow made from some or all metal parts would be much more feasable, but would be the sign of an insane mind when it also involves the amount of work and how large it would have to be compared to a gun.
Finding a bow left over from before the war wouldn't work, as while there are some old bows that still can be fired, they need a lot of upkeep and the arrows would become a little ratty. You would also need to replace the string, unless you want to lose an eye.
You also forget one thing...where to get the feathers from?
Refresh my memory...Zbyram wrote:Well, not exactly... BIS hasn't made a shitty Fallout game so far. FOT and FOBOS are/were made by other people. Who was it that put New Reno into Fallout 2?
Who put countless shitty easter eggs into Fallout 2?
Who worked on bullshit things before making sure the game was ready to ship, causing the game to be incredibly buggy even after "patched"?
Who is still under Interplay's management?
Who doesn't have any of the original developers on their team?
Obsidian:
Now working on Fallout: New Undermountain!
They promise to spend only a year on this title - only a year less than the original Descent to Undermountain!

STILL Fo2 was a good game. The only Fo games that deserve the adjective shitty were FOT and FOBOS. Yeah I know that Fo2 had bugs and easter eggs, I played the game A LOT for God's sake. I want Fo3 anyway, shit it's what the whole community was waiting for years. Do you have any solution to make it better? I know, make everyone return to BIS or sell the rights to Tim Cain. Great, wait for that.Rosh wrote:Refresh my memory...

Except Chris Jones, you mean.Who doesn't have any of the original developers on their team?
J.E. Sawyer wrote:This has been said before, but people don't like to actually remember it: Fallout's lead designer, Chris Taylor, works at Vivendi. One of Fallout's two lead programmers, Chris Jones, works at Black Isle.
Ah, good point. I had forgotten about them, yet...well, they're in a code monkey position and not quite in a design position, so that kind of has the same effect as my original point. Unfortunate, though. :/Sammael wrote:Except Chris Jones, you mean.Who doesn't have any of the original developers on their team?
That's only a point of your perspective. From a technical point, it's pretty good that Tim Cain and the others laid down some groundwork before they left.Zbyram wrote: STILL Fo2 was a good game. Thusly my argument still stands about BIS, however, and your "points" are pretty much renedered irrelevent.
Irrelevent, again.I played the game A LOT for God's sake.
But not a poor Fo3. Is any of this sinking in yet?I want Fo3 anyway, shit it's what the whole community was waiting for years.
One has been pointed out a number of times in another thread, two threads in fact, but you've apparently been too oblivious to see it.Do you have any solution to make it better?
Yup, I see you're still using asinine hyperbole as some kind of argument. Too bad it's ridiculous as hell.I know, make everyone return to BIS or sell the rights to Tim Cain. Great, wait for that.

Another stunning waste of bandwidth. Who could expect anything less of you, hm?Zbyram wrote:I don't agree. I'll be waiting for the game. You should hang yourself. That's all.
