Check your fallout2.cfg and make sure the "master_patch" and master_dat point to the correct files/paths; as well as the critter variation...

Hmm. that's odd. I've got it on WinXP Home (Build 4.90.00), and the only problem I've had is that it crashes every now and then (probably from going into 640x480 resolution, as WinXP dosen't support anything lower than 800x600).

Nah nothing to do with resolution, those are FO2 bugs... XP supports DirectX fine in any resolution - even olde ModeXs...

Well, there could be driver bugs but I doubt it.

For the cfg, well, find a file called "Fallout2.cfg" (which is found where you installed Fallout2) and open it in notepad. Find the line that says "master_patch" check if it's valid (failing that, paste it here).

Quite frankly to make things simpler, uninstall it and reinstall it with the "humongeous installation". Should make things simpler really.
