More Cryptic Black Isle Chatter

In some languages, "ShadowPaladin" translates into something like "DimPutz".Sammael wrote:If I ever see any of ShadowPaladin's ideas implemented in any game I play, I am going to burn the company that made the game down.
There's problems with that boy, and that's my best approximation of them.
In such an event that you mention, I think I'd help by staking that dimwit onto a cross and using him to ignite the fire.
Honestly, that could be it. I've seen more logical and forthright things done by both Derek Smart and Romero combined than what Interplay has done.Mad Max RW wrote:I personally think it means nothing. Interplay probably told these guys to start talking about Fallout 3 to help take the pressure off FOBOS.

I must be one of the scant few that Loved both Fallout 1 & 2. Anyhoo...
As for ambushes it would be nice if you could convey to your comrades what you intend to do, but I don't think you should be able to have them be the ones to lure anyone. That should always fall to the main character to do.

Just some people wandering around the wasteland trying to survive, not some Elite Tactical Squad made up of people from random walks of life.
I cannot even imagine Fallout without friendly burst fire incidents.NO EF-ING BURSTS IN MY (or any other friendlies) BACK (or front, or side)!!!!
Not sure how I feel about all this. I wouldn't want Fallout 3 to become some super tactical game. I always liked the fact that the tag along NPC's were very seperate from my character. I wouldn't want to start thinking of them as some sort of military/mercenary squad. Fallout 2 seemed to be going in the right direction with just the general behavior settings. I especially liked how not all of the Possible behavior settings were available to certain npc's...it gave them character. I do not want it to go any farther than that, I can't imagine playing Fallout with automatons doing everything I tell them to. (no I don't count Tactics as a true Fallout game) I hope there is no such thing as a Leadership skill in Fallout...ever.Formations - Just like you'd think, everyone walking around and trying to stay in a line/box/wedge/whatever formation.
Ambushes - Sending one person out to draw the enemy to the rest of the party where much death ensues (for the enemy).
Standing orders - Things like, "Always cover me." or, "Always use Stimpacks on me/yourself/our allies." or "Run when at half health." and the like.

Heh, yeah. We're nope playing a lam CT game here... Freindly Fire is something that adds a nice touch in FO - albeit it was overdone (ie: hapenned too often) given thjat you couldn't have your NPCs in any formation.
If you have formations though then there's no more need to remove Firendly Fire as your stupidity is only your own. Regarding formations, they're all NPCs with character, so some NPCs you probably shouldn't be able to "control" as well as others - this goes in pretty much a similar statment regarding yelling orders which I would appreciate (ie: change formation, tell someone to move back, simple stuff like that).

Umm... don't you decide whether you want to shoot your own friends in the back with burst? Keep that in!wrote:NO EF-ING BURSTS IN MY (or any other friendlies) BACK (or front, or side
The other ideas are goood though.
I want to be able to give my NPCs commands or suggestions, but they might or might not choose to listen depending on their situation and personality.
Like Vic, I'd be able to tell him to do practically anything, he's my slave.
Instead of relying some leadership skill, maybe it could be charisma, but I think it should depend mainly on the actual NPC.
Also, the game should be playable without NPCs. I don't want to have to have any to survive. Although having some guys around to help would be nice, it shouldn't be essential.

If they really are talking about Fallout 3 here(which I hope they're not), then they seem to be a bit lost. Those questions would be appropriate to ask if they're making a new Fallout: Tactics. At this point, anything related to PC and Fallout make me optimistic. I'm getting more and more interested about Van Buren. Could it be FOT2?

No, they only produde RPGs and they are talking about Rpgs issues; whatever van Buren is it will have a single character control, and one that can make generic orders to all the NPC`s, not to one in particular, and then they can accept the orders or not, depending on the new "trust" modifiers and charisma of our character.VasikkA wrote:Could it be FOT2?
