First solid proof of FO3's existence...
[ -> N/A]
I received this e-mail a short while ago and it finally seems to give us some actual proof of the existence of Fallout 3...

Howdy DAC guys,
In my lurking of the Something Awful forums I noticed this desktop thread, posted by Ropekid who as is my understanding works for Black Isle. I can't really prove that but I'm sure someone at your neck of the woods can. Ropekid posted this desktop. Which seems interesting for 2 reasons. Firstly on the Top right there is an network link icon for a "F3 Project Server". No doubt this could mean many things but I can't help thinking the obvious =). Secondly his very desktop, a 'Gasbot'. I find this interesting has it reminds me of the style used in much of the Icewind Dale 1/2 concept and character work. Also as you can see it has a bit of a 1950' Sci Fi vibe to it. Fallout 3 concept work perhaps? Perhaps not. Im sure there are more but I'll let you guys pick it to peices.
Josh 'Arach' Hull.

Josh you would be correct in making the assumption that ropekid does indeed work for Black Isle Studios. More accurately, RopeKid is actually JE Sawyer who seems to have a penchant for revealing games by posting his desktop. Along with the F3 project server you will notice the total absence of any Jefferson items, assume the worst. You can pretty much gather that Jefferson has been put on indefinite hold on account of licensing issues and BIS has tossed their full force behind a Fallout 3.
Thanks again to both Josh's for bringing this to light. The gasbot actually looks like a Nuka Cola machine with hydraulics (even though it should look more like the old time gas pumps.)

I think the Gasbot looks like arse.
I also think that they may be working on Fallout 3.
I also think that it's going to be real-time.
I also think they'll fuck it up in some other way as well.

Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing. It's legs, left arm, and head are too small, really. It needs to look more bulky in those areas to stay lower tech looking. The legs are way, way too small for that right arm. Even wheels or tracks would be better than the tiny legs.DarkUnderlord wrote:I think the Gasbot looks like arse.
I'd replace the humanesque hand with something like a three fingered gripper as well - like some kind of caliper clamp or vice grips only with three digits. Give it a utilitarian look, like a tool arm.
Also, I think it needs more streamlined flairing like the vehicles of the 1940s and 1950s. Some headlights so it can work in the dark would be nice as well.
