Arthur wants you!

Post by Killzig »

[ -> N/A]

Arthur of The Doomsayer's Digest has e-mailed to let me know he's working on an RPG and needs our help.
First of all, what is "MEGATON: The Mysterious Stranger VS. Despot King of Kalifornia" (or just "Megaton" for short)? It is a role-playing game set in alternative future where at some point in history Cold War turned 'hot' and destroyed both super-powers and most of the world. The game covers only a small portion of that world, namely the state of California. You start as a wanderer from the East who was mugged by the 'soldiers' of the tyrant who rules this land, and what happens from there on depends on you. Ultimately the game ends with the demise of the tyrant, and there are to be a number of ways to accomplish this, depending on what decisions you will make during the course of the game.

These decisions will include brawls and firefights, as well as trade, conversations, exploration, and scavenging, as well as theft and break-in, among other things. The game is not designed with large ambitions in mind, so do not expect to see something the level of Fallout or Geneforge in graphics or gameplay ( but hopefully you will in a sequel sometime in late ought-ies, heh ). I don't have the experience, resources, or manpower to accomplish a commercial-grade product, so I'm aiming for something I will be able to release in a reasonable amount of time.

Still, making a role-playing game is a large task, and I need all help I can get. So if you are a programmer, an artist, or just good with writing, drop me a mail at this address, I will really appreciate it.
If you feel like you're the man for the job head on over to his site and give him a hand.

hmph... If I wasn't so busy with my own game, I'd definitely volunteer my services.... good luck with everything!

When do you think it'll be done? If you think you can finish it by september, you might try submitting it for the Independent Game Festival... (that's what I'm planning on doing)

#666, number of the Beast? Ha ha ha ha, it sure is!

morris, it really depends on how many people I will manage to sign up for help. But I don't think I stand a chance of winning IGF, "Megaton" is fairly traditional, and as we all know only weird games win on IGF :cry:
