It has some cool features... the standard insanity thing from that crappy gamecube game (eternal darkness) only done better, and a 'vertigo system' where heights disorient you. Plus the standard COC mythos.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

hmmm graphics seem decent, maybe a bit outdated...
The screenshots don't really give off that creepy feeling I'd expected... =/

So far the undying shots looked far more creepy...

Isn't there a girl who looks somewhat like this in Blair Witch Project...?

Image

! Where is cthulu?? I want squid-head-man-with-wings as well!!

Hmmm correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Lovecraft turn insane after writing the Mythos...?

Well, I think it looks freaking cool.
Heh. Seems someone's reading. :)

I still think it looks like arse.
It's amazing to me that people like anything BIS does without even giving it any type of criticism whatsoever. Does it look like a 1950s sci-fi style robot? Nope! That should be an indication of a problem right there. Here's what I'm refering to:

Image

See that? Big, bulky. Compare that to the brain bots in Fallout, you'll notice many similarities. Speaking of the brain bot, there's also B-9 from Lost in Space:

Image

The brain bot also shares a number of the same things as B-9, including the arms.

The gasbot looks a little too anime influenced as well, which is why some parts are grossly larger than they should be and others grossly smaller.

A guy showed up at NMA saying the F3 Project server isn`t F3 afterall, but FJ. It looks like it, when we zoom a bit, but whatever it is, if in theory it is really FJ, what could that mean?

And why did the x-files soundtrack just started...

Maybe the plot for Fallout 3 is that some secret pre-war Japanese research project is taking over the wastes with self-replicating robots, which conveniently use whatever scrap is available, as long as the final product is disproportionate. It's up to the grandson of the grandson of the original Vault Dweller to triumph over this invasion of style, and reinstate the proper 50's-ness to the world.

EDIT : Aha! If that is indeed a J, it stands for Fallout : Japan. I've figured it out!

I think it looks good, I'm a hardcore Cthulhu fan and COC player. Graphics look fairly average, but you need to watch the video, it looks nice. Most of the game seems to deal with Deep Ones, but there's probably the standard assortment of Byakhee, Mi-Go (my fave), ghouls, etc. and outer gods as well. Probably no Cthulhu (maybe a Star Spawn of Cthulhu though).

Lovecraft was pulled out of school at the age of 6 because he had very disturbing dreams, which continued for a long while and which he based his stories on. He wasn't insane, but was prone to odd behaviour and a very paranoid man. He died at in his 30's.

OMG Your right, Its stands for Fallout: Japanese Version  Its all coming together.

Yet another spin off :(

EDITED: I've looked at it a few times know and I think it maybe a 3, its hard to tell but it looks more like a 3 then a j.

Hmmm, that looks 50's enough to triumph over filthy asian style. And if not, you can always upgrade it by getting Fallout-Boy painted onto the side and then no extremely proportioned gasbot is going to be able to keep itself from twisting into a more retro form.
All turn based form twisting, mind you. Combat will be carried out with heavy reliance on the Charisma stat, seeing as you have to trick and charm your way past everything's "modern" defenses to get them to switch back to the good old Vacuum tube look.

EDIT : Yeah, I apologize for the typos and the total lack of sense there, I'm sleepy. To recap, with that cool-kids-only car(t) though, no anime robot in Fallout : Japan will be able to keep it's style from being converted from out of place to 50's. ;)

The other thing to think about is, who made it? The robots in FO and FO2 are from "modern pre-war" stock. That is, robots that were around just before the great war. We do know of the guy who made the Cyber dog (Razor?) in FO2. The doctor. But that also has a fairly modern look to it, new shiny parts etc.. If someone's making Gasbots, you wonder why and you wonder how?

Obviously using spare parts, but why? That indicates lack of access to metal etc.. (Plenty of rusty car parts about the place :D ) Yet they have the technology to build the machine. Indicates science knowledge. I'm just wondering how they'll fit this in the game. Is the Gasbot just a solo robot found from a handy NPC somewhere who whacked it together from spare parts? Or are there a whole bunch of 'em?

It looks very much like JE is using Windows XP. The default font in WinXP is Tahoma, which does have a serif type thing up the top of the 'J'.

I superimposed the first image with the second. One of the two images looks a bit more like a 3. I also resotred the real image size (a bit less then twice as big). Then I tried various filters.

I then compared it to a 8pt Tahoma font for reference. It look fatter but this is because of the soom-out done on the original picture. It indeed looks nothing like a 3 since a 3 would have been wider - something you don't need the process I mentioend in the first paragraph to notice...

More I'play Concept ART

Post by 4too »

"Gas-bot"

Could this be more concept ART?

Or a hyped up doodle to test the color pallette and shading?

A fever dream on the lost highway of alternate tommorrows.

What's sad is this may be the only time we see 'ol' Gassie'.

At least give 'im a walk on part as an icon worshipped by a post
apocalyptic HIGH OCTANE cult.

FO Episode:XXX, "The Call of 4too".

"Really into huffin' maaannnn......"

(Inhale.)

(Hold.)

(Exhale.)

"Wow let's all go to PIP Boy'z 'n' bowl a few frames..... Chuck's buyin' the first round....

(Inhale.)

(Hold.)

(Exhale.)

..St._P, Odin, Killzig, 'n' Rosh will be drivin' by later to 'aze 'im into the league....."

(4too passes out.)

Ohh... Fallout: Japan. Sounds like I need to reinstall the toolset and see what new havoc I can wreak.
