Ghouls In The Fallout World
Ghouls have a complex secret underground economy revolving around the sale and transport of dead humans, which are used for consumption. They've managed to keep their zombie sides very quiet in Fallout and Fallout 2. Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel will involve the uncovering of the zombie-like aspects of the ghouls.

Zombies belong to D&D and all that shit. I don't want ghouls being similar to zombies. After all, ghouls were humans once(still are?), and are not some mindless undead axe-food. The aesthetic similarities are there, but are still quite different from each other. Both have greenish skin/flesh, but as far as I know ghouls aren't rotten, just mutated. The biggest difference is in their intellectual level. Zombies are mindless creatures that can only understand a command or two from their master. Ghouls on the other hand can interact with each other, barter, organize etc. They just aren't popular among humans, which explains their status in Fallout-society.
Chuck seems to think ghouls as zombies, which is understandable from someone who doesn't have a clue about Fallout.

Well, ghouls aren't really zombies, zombies can't think.... I believe ghouls hold a special place in the Fallout universe as well as mutants like Harold. You don't see them ripping apart village folk or any nonesense like that.
To remove the ghouls would be like sayin' the Vault Dweller never wore a vault suit.

I've always been suspicious of the ghouls.
They've probably got some deep, dark secrets.
They probably hate all humans. It's envy, jealousy.
That bit where Harold talks about wanting my skin.
That's where his true feelings come out.
Haves and have nots. Those with skin and those without. The have nots will fight.
If they can't have it, nobody can.

ghouls are peaceful, forgotten, quiet trodden-on loners. The world hates them, and as a result ghouls have, for the most part, cut themselves off from the rest of the world.
It's not envy they have. They're happy (in F2) and have made peace with themselves. Ghoul society is certainly a lot more peaceful and efficient than human society.

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Proof that the master was right? I think so.atoga wrote:ghouls are peaceful, forgotten, quiet trodden-on loners. The world hates them, and as a result ghouls have, for the most part, cut themselves off from the rest of the world.

Yeah, the Master however didn't seem to care about ghouls and it'd be wise to say ghouls depending on their personality can be nice or mean.
For example, Set and Harold are two different creatures. Set felt it was prudent to take a firm stance and manipulate the Vault Dweller, which in turn, incured the wrath of the Unity... But there have to be anti-human ghoul groups.

the Master certainly didn't like ghouls.
ghouls were physically weak, but they have a great deal of ingenuity and are often in the right place at the right time - thus, they have perservered.
