Plant/vine Tiles

Post by Forty-six & Two »

Could I convince any of you tilemaking guys to make some kind of plant/vine/vegetation for both climbing and for growth on objects and walls? I was thinking somekind of brownish vine, like dead jungle vegitation. I could really use this in some of the maps in the campaign im making. First of since a ladder or a rope would seem out of place, for climbing, second of because it would create just the right feeling for the areas. Hope this isnt to much of a request, I dont know much about tilework.

Hmm have you thought about flagging a dead tree tile as climable and placing it right under the level you want to climb to?

Problem: As soon as he does UTU/NOD, the C flag goes buh-bye. Not a big deal if he's only placed 1 or 2 of the tiles, but if he's got a bunch... yikes. Manual re-flagging sux ze big 'un :(

Yea, Max has a point, and trust me a tree wouldnt look good since the climb is more than 30 levels. I think theres work arounds, not pretty ones though. I just asked for the tiles if someone was willing to make it, besides helping me I thought it would be a nice addition to the generel moddding community. Like for ruined vaults, imagine vegitation on the PCs and the walls. Its got alotta uses =).

I was thinking more of adding the climbable flag in Redviewer, there's a couple of skinny dead trees without side branches in the FO2 artwork that I could try and convert into a climable tile.

Not that big, but the drop is pretty big. Downwards.

What is the backdrop? What are they going to have to climb up/down, side of a cliff, fallen skyscraper? I can't really think of anything that would look good over that sort of distance, even if you got someone like Senor Deluxe to create some sections of vine, like his chainfence, it would need quite a lot of variety, lots of small sections to be pieced together and then I'm not sure that you can have climbable tiles more than 1 WU wide. Is there anyway you can use the sloping tiles to create a path instead, moving people up/down ladders or stairs is a bloody nightmare, especially when under fire.

I'm wrong, you can have tiles wider than 1WU climable, you can have a wall tile climable even if it's in the middle of a wall, so while it would be nice if someone can create so new plants, in the mean time how about just flagging some of what ever wall tiles you are using as climable and treat it as a secret ladder.
