Well, if it would take two weeks of wandering through dead-empty desert then yeah, you would die before getting back to the town. That's the whole point.

the fun is in the whole idea, ... teh idea of going half way across california on foot without food or water is stupid... i dont want to feed my charactor, what i reckon is that ... you go to a town and buy supplies, you dont have to feed him, you just buy teh supplies you need to get you werever it is that your going... imo its a better way of travelling across the wastes, obviously not everyone is taken with this idea, so fuck it! lets face it, if fallout 3 ever does arise like a phoenix from nuclear ashes, its not gonna have this "perk?" in it anyway.
Yeah! Let's rename the game to The Sims: Fallout. The post-apocalyptic toilet simulation! Surely the Vault Dweller needs to defecate the Beef Jerky he had for dinner.

read my last post, i reckon it explained it well.
the sims indeed, jesus tahts the last thing i'd want to see in a fallout game
Outdoorsman skill should have a lot of stuff and the better you have skill in it, you'd be able to find old ruins like say a Nuka cola plant or weapons depot or something of the sort.
All foods should have their lil perks and what not. Beef Jerky don't spoil while others meal can.
