More encounters!!! How?

More encounters!!! How?

Post by FitzLaughlyn »

Ok, I’ve loaded the game up, installed the patch and I’m happily playing the game again except for one little problem. There are little or no random encounters. How can I up this? Or how can I force a random encounter. I’m not talking about the special encounters, just the random ones. I’d like to get more exp, gear, ammo, drugs, etc. But I can walk from the Den to Vault City and then down to NCR with only 1 encounter and that seems to be rad scorpions.

do you have unusually high stats (aka, h4x0red char) and high outdoorsmen skill?
hmmm... i suppose that a high skill would just give you the option of running from an encounter. i dont really know.

Nope the character is pretty much legit. I'll check through my perks and verify there's nothing wrong there. I raised my luck ot 10, but that shouldn't change anything.

Some routes have less encounters than others. Have you tried going to other locations? If you're travelling with car, you'll probably have less encounters because of the increased speed. You cannot force a random encounter, and higher Outdoorsman skill shouldn't affect the amount of encounters you get. I'm not sure if you get more encounters when your character is more advanced, but I doubt that. You might be just lucky.

Oh, having a negative karma attracts bounty hunters, they give you good exp/gear.

if you get the child killer karmic trait it will attract bounty hunters like VasikkA said... tho after lvl 19 bounty hunters are amazingly hard.... they sometimes have power armor, plasma rifles, gatlin' lasers, etc....

I’ve been walking around and I’ve got a few encounters. Besides pissing people off and being hunted, I guess I’ll just suck it up. The only places I’ve to walk past are San Fran and the Enclave. I’m level 9 and those guys can blast my NPCs with one shot.

Is there some text or a dat file I can up a value on?

I get encounters, it's just not nearly enough. So I've started taking NCR cattle runs, that way I get 2+ encounters that I can gear up for.
